Equip 128965 — seven 5 Gbps ports, each with its own switch

7 x USB-A at 5 GbpsSwitch and LED on every port5 V / 2 A adapter includedAluminium and ABS, 180 g

The Equip 128965 is a 162 mm desktop hub with seven USB-A ports running USB 3.2 Gen 1 at up to 5 Gbps, and what sets it apart from most seven-port hubs is the row of switches: every port has its own on/off switch and LED. You can cut power to a single device without unplugging anything, which is the practical way to reset a stuck adapter or park a drive. A 5 V / 2 A adapter and a power jack come in the box, so the ports are not living on whatever the computer’s socket can spare.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The host cable is 30 cm — short for a seven-port desktop hub, so plan where it sits relative to the machine. One inconsistency in Equip’s own published data is worth flagging because it changes what you plug into: the product name and description say the host connection is USB-A, while the specification table lists a USB-C upstream port. We publish USB-A because that is what the product name and description state; if your machine has only USB-C, tell us and we will confirm the connector before you order. The supplied adapter is 5 V / 2 A, which is 10 W across seven ports — ample for peripherals, not enough to run two bus-powered hard drives at once. Per-port current is not published.

Best For

✓ Desks and benches with a lot of devices
✓ Anyone who wants to power devices down one at a time
✓ Flash drives, card readers, printers and scanners
✓ Test rigs where devices must be reset individually
✓ Small offices that have run out of front-panel ports
✓ Setups where 5 Gbps matters but a dock does not

Key Features

A switch on every port
Seven individual on/off switches with LED indicators: turn off one device without disturbing the other six, and see at a glance which ports are live. Very few hubs at this size offer per-port control.

Seven ports at 5 Gbps
All seven run USB 3.2 Gen 1, so a flash drive or card reader moves at proper speed and is not held back by the keyboard next to it — unlike the many-port hubs that achieve their port count by staying on USB 2.0.

Metal where it matters
An aluminium alloy and ABS housing at 162 x 42 x 21 mm and 180 g — heavy enough to stay put when seven cables pull at it, which is not true of the lightweight plastic alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the individual switches actually give me?
Control that a normal hub does not. Each of the seven ports has its own on/off switch and LED, so you can cut a single device — a licence dongle that has hung, an adapter that needs a power cycle, a drive you want to park — without touching the other six or crawling behind the machine to unplug a cable. On a bench or a test rig that is the whole reason to buy this hub rather than a cheaper one.
Is the 5 V / 2 A adapter enough for seven devices?
For what most people connect, yes comfortably: flash drives, card readers, keyboards, mice, receivers, printers and scanners together sit well inside 10 W. Where it runs out is bus-powered storage — one portable hard drive is usually fine, two at once is asking too much of a 2 A supply. Equip does not publish a per-port current figure, so if drives are the plan, tell us which ones and we will check it with you.
Which connector does it plug into?
Equip’s product name and description both say USB-A, and that is what we publish. Their own specification table lists a USB-C upstream port, which contradicts it, and we are not going to guess which is a typographical error. If your machine only has USB-C ports, contact us before ordering and we will confirm the connector on the stock we hold rather than have you find out at the desk.
Singular Expert Insight
Two things separate the 128965 from the crowd of seven-port hubs. The first is per-port switching, which is rare below the industrial price bracket and genuinely useful anywhere devices need resetting rather than replacing. The second is that all seven ports are 5 Gbps: most hubs that offer seven or more sockets get there by staying on USB 2.0, which is fine for peripherals and hopeless for storage. That makes this the middle option in our USB hub range — more capable than a USB 2.0 port farm, simpler and cheaper than a dock. The honest limit is the 2 A supply: it powers peripherals well and external hard drives poorly, so keep mains-powered drives on their own adapters. And check with us about the host connector before ordering, because Equip’s own documents disagree with each other on that one line.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You want seven fast ports and the ability to switch each one off independently. You are plugging in flash drives, card readers and printers where 5 Gbps actually matters. You want a weighted metal-bodied hub that stays where you put it.

Skip it if

You need to run two or more bus-powered hard drives — a 2 A supply will not do it. You need a long host cable: this one is 30 cm. You need certainty about the host connector today and cannot wait for us to confirm it.

Also consider

A USB 2.0 port farm if you only need many low-speed ports and want to spend less. A 10 Gbps hub if you own a fast portable SSD. A USB-C hub with Power Delivery if the laptop also needs to charge.
