Equip USB-C and USB-A to 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
2.5GbE RJ45USB-C and USB-A hostWake-on-LANAluminium housing
The Equip 133495 is a USB-C and USB-A to 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet adapter that adds a 10/100/1000/2500 Mbps RJ45 port to laptops, desktops, tablets and other devices that have no wired LAN socket or only a 1 Gbps one. It suits office users, home workers and IT departments who want a faster, more stable connection than Wi-Fi without opening the computer.
Equip lists both a USB-C and a USB-A upstream connection for this model, so the same adapter can move between a modern USB-C ultrabook and an older desktop or laptop with only USB-A ports. The RJ45 socket has link and activity LEDs, and the aluminium body helps spread the heat that 2.5GbE chipsets produce under sustained load.
Before you order: 2.5 Gbps is only reached when the other end of the cable is also 2.5GbE-capable (switch, router or NAS port) and the adapter sits on a USB 3.x port. On a normal Gigabit switch it links at 1 Gbps.
What's in the Box
- 1 x Equip 133495 USB-C and USB-A to 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet adapter (USB-C plug and USB-A connection per the Equip listing)
- No network cable, driver disc or power supply is included; the adapter is powered from the USB port
What It Means in Practice
- Large file copies to a 2.5GbE NAS or server can run up to 2.5 times faster than through a Gigabit port, provided the NAS disks can keep up
- A wired link gives lower and more predictable latency than Wi-Fi for video calls, remote desktop and online gaming
- Wake-on-LAN lets IT staff power on a sleeping machine over the network for overnight updates or remote access
- 802.1Q VLAN tagging lets the adapter be used on managed business networks where traffic is separated by VLAN
What Will Not Work
- It will not deliver 2.5 Gbps through a Gigabit switch, a Gigabit router port or a Cat5 cable run that cannot hold the higher speed
- It does not pass through USB Power Delivery, so it cannot charge a laptop that has only one USB-C port
- It is not a hub: there are no extra USB ports or video outputs
- On a USB 2.0 port the throughput is limited by the USB link, far below 2.5 Gbps
Key Features
2.5GbE with fallback
Supports IEEE 802.3bz 2.5GBASE-T and auto-negotiates down to 1000, 100 or 10 Mbps with Auto MDI-X, so it works on any existing Ethernet network.
Two host types
USB-C (Thunderbolt 3/4 compatible) and USB-A connection listed by Equip, so one adapter covers new and older computers.
Business features
Wake-on-LAN, 802.1Q VLAN tagging, 802.1p priority and 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet are listed in the specifications.
Aluminium body
Metal casing with LED link and activity indication on the RJ45 socket; 15 cm attached cable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The 133495 makes most sense when the rest of the path is also 2.5GbE: a 2.5G switch, a NAS or a fibre router with a 2.5G LAN port. On a Gigabit-only network a cheaper 1 GbE adapter gives the same result. Its advantage over single-plug models is that one adapter serves both USB-C and USB-A machines, which is handy for IT departments with a mixed fleet.
✓ Buy it if you have or plan a 2.5GbE switch, NAS or router and need wired LAN on a USB-C or USB-A computer.
✕ Skip it if you need laptop charging pass-through or extra USB ports — choose a USB-C hub or dock instead.
→ Also consider the Conceptronic ABBY12GC (USB-C, 2.5GbE) or a Gigabit USB adapter if your network is 1 Gbps only.
Not sure it fits your setup? Send us the model of your laptop, PC or console and the switch or router it will connect to, and we will check compatibility before you order.
