equip 119466 — USB-C to USB-C Active Optical Cable, 5 m, 8K 60Hz, 10Gbps, PD 60W
5 m active optical8K 60Hz DP Alt Mode10Gbps + PD 60WOne-way cable
The equip 119466 is a 5-metre USB-C to USB-C active optical cable (AOC) that carries video, data and power in one run where a normal copper USB-C cable would fail. It suits meeting rooms, lecture halls, control desks and workstations where the laptop or PC sits well away from the display or dock. Inside, the signal is converted to light, so it travels the full 5 m with low attenuation and no electromagnetic interference, while the cable stays thinner and lighter than long copper. On the spec side it follows USB 3.2 Gen 2 with up to 10Gbps data, carries USB Power Delivery up to 60W (20V/3A), and passes video up to 8K 60Hz through DisplayPort Alt Mode with DSC, HDR and HDCP 2.2 support. Connectors are gold-plated in zinc-alloy housings.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This cable works in one direction only. The ends are marked: the source end must go to the laptop, PC or other USB-C source and the other end to the display, dock or peripheral — plugged in reverse it will not work. Your source’s USB-C port must support DisplayPort Alt Mode for video; many phones, some tablets and charging-only laptop ports do not. 8K 60Hz needs DSC on both the graphics source and the display. Charging is capped at 60W — a laptop that needs 90W or 100W will charge slowly or not at all through this cable. It is USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps), not a Thunderbolt or USB4 cable, so 20/40Gbps devices and eGPUs will not reach their rated speed. equip does not state whether the cable needs any external power. The 8K range comes in four lengths: 119467 (7.5 m), 119468 (10 m), 119469 (15 m). There is also a 4K-rated 7.5 m version, 119464 — check the video rating before ordering. In the box: the cable only. Tell us your laptop and display model and we will confirm it works before you order.
Best For
✓ Meeting rooms with the laptop at the table and the display on the wall
✓ Lecture halls and training rooms with long desk-to-screen runs
✓ Connecting a USB-C monitor or dock that is 5 m away from the PC
✓ Control rooms and AV desks where copper USB-C runs out of reach
✓ Installations near motors, lighting or other interference sources
✓ Tidy cable routing through trunking where a slimmer cable helps
Key Features
Active optical over 5 m
Electrical signals are converted to light inside the cable, so video and data survive the full 5 m run with low attenuation and immunity to electromagnetic interference — the reason long USB-C copper cables fail and this one does not.
8K 60Hz via DP Alt Mode
Video is passed as DisplayPort Alt Mode up to 8K at 60Hz (8K relies on DSC), with HDR and HDCP 2.2 support for protected content. A single cable can drive a USB-C monitor directly, or a USB-C dock that then feeds the screen.
10Gbps data plus 60W power
Built to the USB 3.2 Gen 2 specification with up to 10Gbps data transfer, and USB Power Delivery up to 60W (20V/3A). That covers charging most ultrabooks and tablets from a USB-C monitor or dock while you work.
Slim, rugged build
Compared with copper cables of similar length, the AOC construction is thinner, lighter and more flexible. The connectors are gold-plated and sit in zinc-alloy housings, and the whole 5 m cable weighs 0.42 kg.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it matter which end goes where?
Yes. The 119466 is a one-way active optical cable. Connect the end marked as the source to your laptop or PC and the other end to the monitor, dock or peripheral; if it is reversed, the link will not come up.
Will it charge my laptop?
Up to 60W (20V/3A) of USB Power Delivery passes through, which covers most ultrabooks and tablets. Laptops that need 90W or more will charge slowly, may drain under load, or may refuse to charge — check your laptop’s USB-C charging requirement.
Will it work with my phone or tablet?
Only if the device outputs video over USB-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode). Many phones and some tablets do not, and then no picture appears even though the cable is fine. Tell us the model and we will check.
Is it a Thunderbolt or USB4 cable?
No. equip specifies it as USB 3.2 Gen 2 with up to 10Gbps data. Thunderbolt docks and eGPUs may fall back to lower speeds or not work as intended; for those, use a certified Thunderbolt or USB4 cable within its rated length.
Singular Expert Insight
Long USB-C runs are where copper cables stop being reliable, and that is exactly the job for an active optical cable. Pick the 119466 when the distance is 5 m and you need 8K 60Hz, 10Gbps and up to 60W over one lead. If the run is shorter or longer, the same 8K cable comes in 5, 7.5, 10 and 15 m. For shorter desk connections, a passive cable from our
USB-C cable range is simpler and supports higher charging power, and a USB-C dock from
docking stations can add ports at the display end. Send us your laptop and monitor models and we will confirm the setup.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Your laptop or PC is about 5 m from the display or dock, its USB-C port supports DP Alt Mode, and 60W charging is enough.
Skip it if
You need more than 60W charging, Thunderbolt/USB4 speeds, a two-way cable, or the run is only a metre or two.
