The Equip 127608 is a passive 2-port Cat5e RJ45 splitter with one RJ45 plug and two RJ45 jacks on a 15 cm shielded cable, for offices and homes that want to carry two network connections over one existing cable run and wall outlet.
It needs no power and no configuration. Equip notes that each device operates on a separate pair allocation and that maximum speed depends on the pin split — in other words, the eight wires of the cable are divided between the two ports instead of being shared.
Before you order: This is a pair splitter, not a switch. Because each port uses its own pairs, the cable behind the outlet must carry both connections on separate pairs — normally with a second splitter of the same type at the switch end. Plugged into a single switch port on its own, it will not give two devices a working link.

- Each port gets only part of the cable pairs, so expect Fast Ethernet (10/100) class connections rather than Gigabit.

What Will Not Work
- Not a switch or hub: it cannot share one active switch port between two devices.
- No Gigabit per port — Gigabit Ethernet needs all four pairs of the cable.
- Do not use it with PoE devices or on links that must run at Gigabit speed; ask us for a small switch instead.
