The Equip Life 133382 is a USB 2.0 to RS-232 serial adapter that adds a DB9 male COM port to any computer with a USB-A port, for connecting PLCs, POS printers, barcode scanners, network-switch consoles and other legacy serial devices. It is built around the Prolific PL2303TA chipset and supports serial speeds up to 1 Mbps.

Compatibility note: Equip lists this adapter as compatible with Windows 98 to Windows 10, macOS and Linux, and states that it is not compatible with Windows 11. For Windows 11 PCs choose an adapter whose manufacturer lists Windows 11 support.

Can I use the Equip 133382 to configure a Cisco or HP switch console?
Yes, if the switch has a DB9 or RJ45 serial console. A DB9 console port connects directly (a null-modem cable may be needed depending on the device). An RJ45 console port needs an RJ45-to-DB9 female console cable, which is not included.
What baud rate should I set?
Use the rate the connected device expects. Most consoles and PLCs run at 9600 or 115200 baud, and the PL2303TA chipset supports rates up to 1 Mbps.
