The equip 121163 is a tool-free Cat5e RJ45 plug for unshielded round network cable, supplied as a pack of two, for anyone who needs to put a connector on a cable without owning a crimping tool.
You lay the wires into the colour-coded guides, close the cap and the plug is terminated. The housing is clear polycarbonate (PC, UL 94 V-0 flame rating), so you can see that every wire sits where it should before you plug it into a switch, router or wall outlet. It is a practical fix for on-site repairs, custom cable lengths and cables that have to be pulled through a small hole first and terminated afterwards.
Before you order: equip does not publish the wire gauge (AWG) range or whether this plug takes solid-core or stranded cable. If you are terminating thick Cat6/Cat6A cable or stranded patch cable, send us the cable model first.

What It Means in Practice
- Lets you shorten a cable that is too long, or replace a broken plug, on site in a couple of minutes.
- You can run the bare cable through a wall or conduit first and fit the plug afterwards — useful where a moulded plug will not pass.
- Cat5e is rated for Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet over a correctly terminated link.
- The clear body lets you check the T568A/T568B wire order before you plug in.
What Will Not Work
- Shielded (F/UTP, S/FTP) installations — this plug has no shield contact, so the cable shield is not grounded through it.
- Flat cable — equip specifies round cable.
- 10 Gbit/s over Cat6A runs — this is a Cat5e plug; use a Cat6A connector for 10GBase-T.
- It is not a coupler: to join two finished patch cables use an RJ45 F/F coupler instead.
