Equip OM1 SC to SC Duplex Fibre Patch Cord — 1 m
OM1 multimodeSC to SC connectors1 m · OrangeLSZH
The Equip 253321 is a 1 m duplex OM1 multimode fibre patch cord with SC on one end and SC on the other, for connecting multimode SR/SX transceivers, switches, media converters and patch panels. OM1 is 62.5/125 µm multimode — the legacy core size of older building backbones and equipment; it is only for patching into existing 62.5 µm links.
Both ends: SC — the square push-pull connector common on older switches, media converters, wall outlets and distribution frames.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Equip SC/SC fiber optic patch cord, OM1, duplex, 1.0 m
- Measurement protocol (per Equip)
What It Means in Practice
- Duplex means two fibres side by side, one transmit and one receive. The cord crosses Tx to Rx for you; if a link stays dark after patching, swap the two connectors on one end — it is the most common fibre patching mistake.
- 1 m is the right length inside the same rack — switch to patch panel or to the device next to it. Order the shortest length that reaches without tension — excess fibre has to be coiled in the cable manager.
- Route the cord with gentle bends and keep it away from sharp edges and door hinges; fibre loses light when bent too tightly.
- LSZH jacket — low smoke, zero halogen — the expected choice for offices, server rooms and public buildings.
- Keep the dust caps on until the moment you plug in. A dirty ferrule is the number one cause of high loss; clean the end faces if the ports have been left open.
What Will Not Work
- Singlemode optics (LR, LX, ER, BiDi) — they need a 9/125 µm singlemode (OS2) cord; multimode fibre does not substitute.
- Mixing with 50/125 µm (OM2, OM3, OM4) cabling — the 62.5 µm core does not match and causes high loss; keep the whole link 62.5/125.
- Ports with LC, ST, MTP/MPO connectors — this cord terminates in SC on both ends only.
- Copper RJ45 ports — fibre needs an SFP/fibre port or a media converter on each side.

Frequently Asked Questions
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Fibre patch cords are chosen by three things: the fibre grade (it must match the optics), the connector on each end and the polish. OM1 with SC to SC is the combination this cord covers. Need the active side as well? Browse our switches with SFP ports and match the transceiver to multimode fibre.
✓ Buy it if you need a 1 m OM1 multimode link with SC on both ends.
✕ Skip it if your optics are singlemode (LR/LX/BiDi), your ports are APC (green), or you need a different connector on either end.
→ Also consider an OM3 SC/SC cord if your installation is actually 50/125 µm — check the print on the existing cable.
Not sure which grade or connector you have? Send us the model of your switch, transceiver or panel and we will check it before you order.
