Equip 112050 · Molex to SATA Power Adapter Cable, 15 cm
Molex → SATA15 cm1 outputInternal
The Equip 112050 is a 15 cm internal power adapter that turns a 4-pin Molex lead from a PC power supply into a SATA 15-pin power connector, so you can power a SATA hard drive, SSD or optical drive from a PSU that has no free SATA connector.
Equip builds it with copper conductors and a PVC jacket, 15 cm long, RoHS compliant.
Before you order: This cable carries power only. The drive still needs its own SATA data cable to the motherboard or controller.
What's in the Box
- 1 x Equip Molex to SATA power adapter cable, 15 cm
What It Means in Practice
- Plug the Molex end into a free 4-pin peripheral lead of the power supply and the SATA end into the drive.
- Typical use: adding an SSD or second HDD to an older PC whose power supply has run out of SATA connectors.
- Use one adapter per drive; do not chain several drives from one Molex lead through adapters.
What Will Not Work
- It does not transfer data: a separate SATA data cable is needed.
- It does not supply 3.3 V, because the Molex connector carries only 5 V and 12 V; the few SATA devices that need 3.3 V will not work from it.
- It does not power graphics cards, CPU (EPS) or PCIe devices.
- It does not add capacity to the power supply.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Molex to SATA adapters keep older PCs useful when you add an SSD, but they are a workaround: if you are adding several drives, a power supply with enough native SATA connectors is the better fix. See our PC power supplies.
✓ Buy it if your power supply has a free Molex lead but no free SATA power connector for a new drive.
✕ Skip it if the drive needs 3.3 V, you need to power several drives, or your PSU already has a free SATA connector.
→ Also consider a SATA power Y splitter if you have a free SATA lead and need two connectors.
Not sure which connectors your power supply has? Send us the PC or PSU model and we will check.
