The Active Key AK-PMH3 is a hygiene mouse for hospitals, medical practices, dental surgeries and laboratories: a fully sealed silicone body rated IP68 with no scroll wheel at all — a touch scroll sensor replaces it — so there is nowhere for dirt or liquid to collect and the whole mouse can be wipe-disinfected between users with the clinical agents on the VAH list. It connects over 2.4 GHz through a USB nano dongle, tracks at 1000 DPI with an optical sensor tuned for glossy surfaces, is symmetrical for left- or right-handed use, and runs on one AA battery (included). Part number AK-PMH3OS-FUS-B, EAN 7061111987386, in black. Active Key is now part of Contour Design; during the transition the box may carry CHERRY branding. Wireless is 2.4 GHz only through the included USB-A nano dongle — there is no Bluetooth. Battery: 1 x AA alkaline, not rechargeable; Active Key publishes no hours figure per model, only a general “up to a year” in its FAQ. The scroll sensor is a touch strip, not a wheel — users who scroll long documents all day should try it first. Do not order the wired version by mistake (the part number contains US instead of FUS) or the three-button wheel version (OB instead of OS) unless you want them. It is not a medical device under MDR 2017/745; it is IT equipment certified to EN 60601-1-2 for use in medical environments. Do not use oily or greasy disinfectants.

Can I disinfect the AK-PMH3 with our usual wipes?
Yes, with clinical surface disinfectants on the VAH list; the IP68 seal covers the whole mouse. Avoid oily or greasy products. Send us the product name of your disinfectant and we will check.
How do I scroll without a wheel?
Slide a finger along the touch scroll sensor where the wheel would be. It takes a day to get used to and is the reason the mouse stays hygienic.
Is it Bluetooth?
No. It uses a 2.4 GHz USB dongle only, which is also what most hospital IT departments prefer.
What is the difference between the AK-PMH3 and the AK-PMH21?
Same concept: IP68 silicone, scroll sensor, 1000 DPI, 2.4 GHz dongle, about 93 g. The PMH3 is the current model with a lower profile and one AA battery; the PMH21 is taller and narrower and uses two AAA batteries.
