Evoluent VerticalMouse 4 VM4R — Right-Hand Wired Mouse
Medium to large right hands6 buttonsWired USB-AProgrammable in Windows
The Evoluent VerticalMouse 4 VM4R is a wired ergonomic mouse designed for medium to large right hands. Evoluent recommends it for hands measuring approximately 178 mm (7 inches) or more. Its sculpted vertical shape supports the hand in an upright handshake posture, helping avoid the forearm twisting associated with conventional horizontal mice.
Compatibility — check before buying:
VM4R is the right-handed, wired USB-A version for medium to large hands. The cable terminates in a full-size USB Type-A plug. A USB-C adapter or hub is required for computers that only have USB-C ports, and Evoluent states that this adapter is not included. For smaller right hands, choose VM4S instead.
Best For
✓ Medium to large right hands
✓ Hand lengths of approximately 178 mm or more
✓ Office and productivity workstations
✓ Users who prefer an upright vertical grip
✓ Windows users wanting customizable controls
✓ Systems with a full-size USB-A port
Key Features
Ergonomic handshake grip
The sculpted vertical body supports the right hand in an upright handshake posture. This reduces the need to rotate the forearm into the palm-down position used with a conventional mouse.
Six-button layout
Evoluent specifies six buttons with default functions for left click, forward, middle click, right click, back and horizontal scroll. Additional assignments can be configured in supported versions of Windows.
Evoluent Mouse Manager
On Windows, Evoluent Mouse Manager provides extensive customization of button and wheel functions. Evoluent states that virtual buttons can expand the setup to a total of nine possible functions, with different assignments available for different programs.
Plug-and-play USB-A
The wired USB-A connection works with operating systems that support standard USB pointing devices. Basic left-click, right-click and scroll-wheel functions are supported without requiring Evoluent Mouse Manager.

Singular Expert Insight
With the VerticalMouse 4 family, the critical choice is the exact size, handedness and connection type. VM4R is the medium-to-large right-handed wired model, intended for hands around 178 mm or longer. It connects through USB-A, not USB-C, and Evoluent explicitly states that the required adapter for a USB-C-only computer is not supplied. The manufacturer describes the sensor as a high-precision tracking sensor but does not publish a DPI value on its current VM4R product page, so this listing deliberately avoids using the 2600 DPI figure found in some third-party catalogues. That keeps the specification tied to Evoluent's current exact-model documentation.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You are right-handed, your hand is approximately 178 mm or longer, and you want a wired vertical ergonomic mouse with six controls and Windows customization.
Skip it if
You have a smaller right hand, need a left-handed design, want wireless connectivity, or your computer only has USB-C and you do not want to use an adapter.
Also consider
VM4S for smaller right hands, VM4L for medium-to-large left hands, or VM4RW if you prefer the VerticalMouse 4 shape with USB wireless connectivity.
