The Fellowes Amaris A3 is a 6-roller hot and cold office laminator for documents up to A3, with individual settings for 80, 125 and 175 micron pouches, a 60-second InstaHeat warm-up and a speed of 800 mm per minute.

Six rollers are the reason to choose it: heat and pressure are spread over more contact points, which gives clear, flat results on photos and on the stiffer 175-micron pouches used for signs and menus. An A4 pouch goes through in under 30 seconds, so a stack of notices or price cards does not hold up the office.

• Pouch thickness is quoted per side: an "80 micron" pouch is 2 × 80 micron of film. This machine accepts 80 / 125 / 175 micron (individual settings) pouches, so it can also produce the stiffer 175-micron finish used for menus, signs and ID-style cards.
• The 320 mm entry takes pouches up to A3 (303 × 426 mm pouch) fed short edge first.
• Warm-up is 60 seconds (InstaHeat) and the maximum speed is 800 mm/min (A4 in under 30 s). With 6 rollers the film is heated and pressed more evenly, which shows on photos and thicker pouches.
• Thermal paper (receipts, tickets, fax print-outs) darkens under heat: use the cold setting with self-adhesive cold pouches for these and for heat-sensitive prints.
• Lay finished items flat for a minute while the film cools — that is what keeps them from curling.
• Settings are 80, 125 and 175 micron: 100 and 150 micron pouches run on the nearest lower setting, so stock the three standard thicknesses for best results.

• Pouches thicker than 175 micron per side.
• Documents larger than A3 — there is no way to laminate a bigger sheet in two passes.
