The Fellowes Powershred LX25M is a mini-cut paper shredder that turns up to 6 sheets of A4 per pass into 4 x 12 mm particles at DIN 66399 security level P-4, with a 11.5 L waste bin — built for regular home-office use by one person.
P-4 is the level most offices choose for documents carrying personal or confidential data: contracts, payslips, bank statements, customer records. Each A4 page ends up as about 1299 particles, which is far beyond what anyone would try to reassemble. The mini-cut particles are roughly three times smaller than a standard cross-cut, so the bin also fills more slowly by volume.
Before you order: Rated run time is 5 minutes, followed by a 30-minute cool-down. This is a manual-feed shredder for 1 user — if you need to clear archive boxes or share it across a team, look at an auto-feed model instead.

What It Means in Practice
- Up to 6 sheets per pass is rated on 70 g/m² A4. With standard 80 g/m² office paper, feed one or two sheets fewer to avoid stalls.
- Credit cards go in one at a time; staples and small paper clips can stay on the paper.
- Running 5 minutes at 3 m/min is enough for a day’s post and printouts; after that the motor needs 30 minutes to cool.
- The Safety Lock switch disables the shredder when it is not in use, so it cannot be started accidentally.
- The shredder head lifts off the bin for emptying; fit a bag in the bin if you want cleaner emptying.
What Will Not Work
- CDs, DVDs and other optical media — not supported on this model
- Adhesive labels, transparencies, laminated sheets, cardboard, newspaper and continuous forms
- Large paper clips and binder clips — remove them first
- Continuous shredding beyond 5 minutes — the motor needs its 30-minute cool-down
- Auto-feed: every sheet is fed by hand
