Ricoh fi-8190: 90 ppm A4 duplex workgroup scanner with Gigabit LAN
90 ppm / 180 ipm duplex100-sheet ADFGigabit LAN + USB 3.213,000 sheets/day
The Ricoh fi-8190 is a workgroup document scanner that scans both sides of A4 at 90 pages per minute, built for offices, accounts departments and service desks that scan every day into document-management, ERP or accounting software. It loads 100 sheets, handles paper from 20 to 465 g/m2, plastic cards up to 1.4 mm and booklets such as passports in manual feed, and connects by USB 3.2 Gen 1 or Gigabit Ethernet. Earlier units with this part number carried the Fujitsu badge; current units are Ricoh-branded, with the same hardware, drivers and consumables. Expected daily volume is 13,000 sheets. In practice it is a scanner you set up once and then leave to the team: PaperStream IP removes blank pages, straightens skewed sheets, cleans backgrounds and splits batches by barcode or patch code, while job profiles mean users do not need to adjust settings for each scan. Because the fi-8150, fi-8170 and fi-8190 share one driver family, profiles and spare parts can be standardised across offices of different sizes.
Before you order: Drivers support Windows 11/10 and Windows Server, plus macOS and Linux (Ubuntu); line-of-business software should talk to it through PaperStream IP (TWAIN/ISIS). There is no Wi-Fi, so plan a USB connection or a wired network port at the desk.

What It Means in Practice
- A full 100-sheet double-sided batch takes about 67 seconds of feeding at 90 ppm, so a typical day's mail can be scanned between other tasks. Thick and thin pages do not need separating first.
- Mixed batches of thin receipts, A4 pages and heavier card stock can go in one stack, reducing sorting before scanning. Thin paper down to 20 g/m2 also feeds, which helps with copies, carbon-style forms and receipts.
- ID cards up to 1.4 mm and booklets up to 7 mm (in manual feed) mean customer onboarding packs do not need a second scanner.
- Gigabit Ethernet with PaperStream NX Manager lets the scanner be shared or managed centrally instead of being tied to one PC.
- Long pages up to 6,096 mm can be captured for printouts and continuous forms.
What Will Not Work
- No Wi-Fi: networking is wired only.
- No flatbed: fragile originals, bound books and photos that should not go through rollers need a flatbed model such as the fi-8270 or fi-8290.
- No A3 feeding: maximum document width is 215.9 mm; A3 needs a carrier sheet, folded.
- Not a production scanner: above about 13,000 sheets per day choose a faster model rather than running this one beyond its rating.
- Don't accidentally order the fi-8150 or fi-8170: same-looking body, different speed. Fujitsu-badged and Ricoh-badged units with this part number are the same scanner.
Key Features
Clear Image Capture
Dual CIS sensors with RGB LED lighting deliver clean, consistent images that improve OCR results. That means fewer re-scans and less checking afterwards.
Paper protection
Multifeed detection and image monitoring help stop damaged or missed pages in mixed batches. Multifeed detection stops the batch instead of silently missing a page.
Professional software
PaperStream IP (TWAIN/ISIS), PaperStream Capture, ClickScan and Scanner Central Admin are included. Profiles can be deployed to several scanners at once.
Same family, same consumables
The fi-8150, fi-8170 and fi-8190 share the CON-3810-400K roller kit, which simplifies spares across a fleet. One spares stock covers the whole team.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the fi-8190 different from the fi-8150 and fi-8170?
Same body, feeder and features; the difference is rated speed and daily volume. The fi-8190 is rated 90 ppm and 13,000 sheets per day.
My old scanner is labelled Fujitsu. Will this be compatible?
Yes, the fi-8000 range is the same PFU product line under the Ricoh brand; PaperStream drivers and profiles carry over.
Which consumables does it use?
The CON-3810-400K kit (pick and brake rollers, about 400,000 scans) and CON-CLE-W72 cleaning wipes.
Can we scan straight into our document-management or accounting system?
Usually yes, through the TWAIN or ISIS driver or a watched folder; send us the name and version of the software and we confirm compatibility before you order.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
In the fi-8100 family you are paying for speed and daily rating, not for features, so choose the fi-8190 if 13,000 sheets per day covers your peak with some margin. Connect it to a Gigabit
network switch port so network scanning and central admin are not limited by an old 100 Mbit link. For mixed batches of thin receipts and thick forms, the 20 to 465 g/m2 paper range is one of the biggest practical advantages of this family.
✓ Buy it if Buy it if your team scans mixed office documents into professional software every day at up to about 13,000 sheets. It is a safe standard choice for offices that want one scanner model across several sites.
✕ Skip it if Skip it if you need Wi-Fi, a flatbed for passports and books, or native A3 feeding. A ScanSnap is simpler if nobody in the office uses TWAIN-based software.
→ Also consider Also consider the Ricoh fi-8290 for the same 90 ppm feeder plus an A4 flatbed, or the fi-8170 if your volume is lower.
