GIGABYTE B850 EAGLE WIFI6E — AMD B850 ATX for Socket AM5 with PCIe 5.0 and Three M.2 Slots

AMD B850 / Socket AM5PCIe 5.0 x16 + PCIe 5.0 M.23 x M.2 slotsWi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.3

The GIGABYTE B850 EAGLE WIFI6E is a full-size ATX motherboard on the AMD B850 chipset for Socket AM5, pairing a PCIe 5.0 graphics slot with a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot in GIGABYTE’s straightforward EAGLE tier. It carries the part number B850 EAGLE WIFI6E (EAN 4719331866587) and supports AMD Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 Series processors, with four DDR5 DIMM slots taking up to 256 GB at a rated DDR5-8200 when overclocked. Storage runs to three M.2 slots and four SATA 6 Gb/s ports, and wireless is a Wi-Fi 6E module with Bluetooth 5.3 covering the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands. DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 outputs serve processors with integrated graphics. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Read this one carefully: wired networking is gigabit Ethernet, not 2.5GbE. Most B850 boards at this level fit a 2.5 Gigabit controller, and GIGABYTE has used a Realtek GbE chip here instead — if fast local file transfers matter, that is the specification to weigh. The three M.2 slots differ: M2A_CPU is PCIe 5.0 x4, M2B_CPU is PCIe 4.0 and M2C_SB is only PCIe 4.0 x2. Expansion beyond the graphics slot is limited to three PCIe 3.0 x1 links in x16-length slots — there is no PCIe 4.0 x4 secondary slot. PCIe 5.0 on the x16 slot requires a Ryzen 9000 or 7000 Series processor; Ryzen 8000 chips run it at PCIe 4.0 x8 or x4. Wireless is Wi-Fi 6E, not Wi-Fi 7, and the module is an Intel AX210 on PCB rev. 1.0 or a Realtek RTL8852CE on rev. 1.1. Socket AM5 means DDR5 only. The board is full ATX at 30.5 x 24.4 cm.
Best For
✓ Ryzen 9000 builds wanting PCIe 5.0 graphics and Gen 5 storage
✓ Systems with three NVMe drives on a mainstream board
✓ Homes where Wi-Fi carries the traffic rather than the LAN cable
✓ Full ATX builds on a controlled budget
✓ Users planning a later expansion to 256 GB of DDR5
✓ Setups using a Wi-Fi 6E router on the 6 GHz band
Key Features

PCIe 5.0 for graphics and the primary M.2
The CPU-attached x16 slot runs PCIe 5.0 x16 with Ryzen 9000 and 7000 Series processors, and M2A_CPU runs PCIe 5.0 x4 for a Gen 5 NVMe drive. That is the pairing B850 exists to bring to mainstream boards, and it keeps the platform relevant for a Gen 5 graphics card later.

Three M.2 slots plus four SATA ports
M2A_CPU at PCIe 5.0 x4, M2B_CPU at PCIe 4.0 and M2C_SB at PCIe 4.0 x2 give three NVMe drives on one board, with four SATA 6 Gb/s connectors for hard disks and 2.5-inch SSDs. Three M.2 slots is generous for the price tier.

Wi-Fi 6E across 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz
The onboard module supports 802.11ax with 160 MHz channels across all three bands plus Bluetooth 5.3. The 6 GHz band is effectively empty compared with the crowded 2.4 and 5 GHz spectrum in apartment blocks, which is where the practical benefit of 6E shows up.

Four DDR5 slots to 256 GB with EXPO
Four DIMM sockets in dual channel take 64 GB modules to a 256 GB ceiling, with one-click AMD EXPO and Intel XMP profiles and rated speeds from DDR5-4400 up to DDR5-8200 when overclocked.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the B850 EAGLE WIFI6E have 2.5Gb Ethernet?
No — and this is the specification most likely to surprise buyers. GIGABYTE fits a Realtek gigabit controller on this model rather than the 2.5GbE found on many competing B850 boards. Wireless is Wi-Fi 6E, so wireless throughput can actually exceed the wired port in good conditions. If you need faster wired networking, budget for a 2.5Gb PCIe card or choose a different board.
Are the three M.2 slots the same speed?
No. M2A_CPU is PCIe 5.0 x4 from the CPU, M2B_CPU is PCIe 4.0 from the CPU, and M2C_SB is PCIe 4.0 x2 from the chipset, which is roughly half the bandwidth of a full Gen 4 slot. Install your fastest NVMe drive in M2A_CPU and use M2C_SB for archive or secondary storage.
Can I add an expansion card alongside the graphics card?
Only a low-bandwidth one. Beyond the PCIe 5.0 x16 graphics slot, the three remaining x16-length slots are wired for PCIe 3.0 x1. That is fine for a sound card, a Wi-Fi card or a USB controller, but not for a capture card, an HBA or a 10Gb network card that expects x4 bandwidth.
What do I need to know before buying this board?
It is full ATX at 30.5 x 24.4 cm and takes DDR5 memory only. Wired networking is gigabit. The secondary expansion slots are PCIe 3.0 x1. PCIe 5.0 on the graphics slot requires a Ryzen 9000 or 7000 Series CPU. The DisplayPort and HDMI outputs need a processor with integrated graphics.
Singular Expert Insight
The EAGLE is GIGABYTE’s value ATX tier, and the trade-offs here are unusually easy to read. You keep the two things that matter most on B850 — PCIe 5.0 for the graphics slot and for the primary M.2 — plus three M.2 slots and four DDR5 slots. What GIGABYTE has cut to hit the price is the network controller (gigabit rather than 2.5GbE) and the secondary PCIe lanes (three x1 links rather than an x4 slot). If your machine lives on Wi-Fi or a gigabit switch and you only ever fit a graphics card, neither costs you anything. If you were planning a 10Gb network card or a capture card, this is the wrong board. Pair it with a two-module DDR5 memory kit and a Gen 5 drive from our internal SSDs range in M2A_CPU, and it makes a sound, cheap foundation for a Ryzen 9000 build.
Buyer's Guide

Buy it if

You want a full ATX AM5 board with PCIe 5.0 graphics and storage, three M.2 slots and Wi-Fi 6E at a keen price, and your network runs over Wi-Fi or a gigabit switch anyway.

Skip it if

You need 2.5Gb or faster wired Ethernet, a full-bandwidth second expansion slot, Wi-Fi 7, or USB4.

Also consider

The GIGABYTE B650E EAGLE WIFI6E for the same PCIe 5.0 pairing with 2.5GbE networking, or the ASRock B850 Pro-A for four M.2 slots and 2.5GbE.
