The Good Connections LW-810ST3 is a 10 m duplex OM3 multimode fibre patch cable with ST/UPC connectors on both ends, made for short-reach 850 nm links between switches, servers, storage and patch panels.
The cable uses an LSZH jacket with a 3.0 mm outer diameter in aqua, the usual colour for OM3, so it is easy to tell apart in a busy rack. Every cable is tested after assembly and ships with its own measurement report.
Before you order: OM3 multimode works with 850 nm short-reach (SR/SX) multimode optics only. Singlemode LR/LX transceivers will not work on this cable. Check that both ports are ST (bayonet).

What It Means in Practice
- Two fibres in one cable: one transmits, one receives — the normal setup for SFP, SFP+, SFP28 and most media converters.
- At 10 m it reaches between neighbouring racks or across a server room; for building backbones use installation cable and patch panels instead.
- OM3 is laser-optimised 50/125 µm multimode for 850 nm SR optics (10GBASE-SR, 25GBASE-SR, 8/16/32G FC SW).
- Respect the minimum bend radius (7.5 mm): route the cable in gentle loops and do not pinch it in rack doors or cable ties.
- Keep the connectors covered until the moment of connection and clean the end-faces if a link shows high loss — dirt is the most common cause.
What Will Not Work
- Singlemode LR/LX/ER transceivers (1310/1550 nm) — they need OS2 singlemode cable.
- Ports of another connector type (LC, SC, MPO/MTP, E2000) without the right hybrid cable or adapter.
- Permanent in-wall or outdoor installation — this is a patch cable for racks, desks and equipment rooms.

OM3 is fine for 10G SR inside a room; for new multimode installations OM4 gives more headroom at a similar price. Match three things before ordering: fibre type (OM3), connector at each end (ST/UPC / ST/UPC) and polish. Typical partners are switches with SFP/SFP+ ports and the matching transceivers.
✓ Buy it if your ports are ST on both sides and the link is OM3.
✕ Skip it if your transceivers are singlemode LR/LX — order OS2 instead.
