Good Connections SC-SC OS2 Duplex Fibre Patch Cable — 0.5 m

OS2 SinglemodeSC/UPC – SC/UPC0.5 mLSZH 2 mm

The Good Connections LW-9005SC is a 0.5 m duplex fibre optic patch cable with SC/UPC and SC/UPC connectors on OS2 singlemode fibre (9/125 µm, G.652.D), for connecting singlemode transceivers, ONTs, splitters and patch panels in racks, offices and server rooms.

OS2 is 9/125 µm singlemode fibre, the type used for long-reach optics (LX/LR/ER), campus and building backbones, FTTH and carrier hand-offs. The yellow jacket follows the singlemode colour convention.

Before you order: This is OS2 singlemode cable. It only works with singlemode optics (LX/LR, 1310/1550 nm) and singlemode panels, not with SR/SX multimode transceivers.

What's in the Box

  • 1 × Good Connections LW-9005SC duplex fibre patch cable, SC/UPC – SC/UPC, 0.5 m
  • Dust caps on the connector ends
  • Individual test report (each cable is tested before shipping)

What It Means in Practice

  • 0.5 m is a short jumper: switch to patch panel in the same rack, transceiver to a nearby panel, or port to port in adjacent units.
  • Duplex means two fibres (transmit and receive) in one cable, which is exactly what a standard duplex SFP, SFP+ or QSFP transceiver needs.
  • The duplex clip is detachable, so you can swap A/B polarity in the field if the link does not come up, instead of ordering a crossed cable.
  • LSZH jacket, 2 mm outer diameter, yellow: halogen-free, the usual requirement for cabling inside offices, public buildings and data rooms.
  • Minimum bend radius 15 mm: keep curves in cable managers and trunking wider than this to avoid extra loss or a damaged fibre.

What Will Not Work

  • It will not mate correctly with APC (angled, normally green) ports or adapters; those need an APC cable.
  • Both ends are SC. Most SFP/SFP+ transceivers use LC, so this cable is for SC panels, media converters and SC-equipped devices, not for plugging straight into an LC transceiver.
  • It is not a copper cable: it does not connect to RJ45 ports or copper (RJ45) SFP modules.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it work with my SFP/SFP+ transceiver?
Yes if the transceiver is singlemode (LX, LR, ER or BiDi for simplex) and has the matching port. Multimode SR/SX optics need a multimode cable.
The link does not come up. What should I check?
First clean both connector end-faces and check that the transceivers on both sides are the same type and wavelength. Then check polarity: transmit on one side must reach receive on the other. On this cable you can swap the two fibres by opening the duplex clip.
Can I join two cables to make a longer run?
Yes, with a matching SC coupler, but every mated pair adds loss. For a permanent longer link it is better to order the right length in one piece; ask us and we will check which lengths of this series we can supply.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Most fibre problems we see come from three mismatches: multimode vs singlemode, UPC vs APC, and LC vs SC. This Good Connections cable is OS2 singlemode, UPC SC-SC, so match it to your optics and panel first. If you are building the link from scratch, pick the transceivers and switches with SFP ports first, then choose the cable that matches them.
✓ Buy it if your equipment uses OS2 singlemode fibre with SC/UPC and SC/UPC ports and 0.5 m covers the distance.
✕ Skip it if your transceivers are multimode (SR/SX), or your ports are APC.
→ Also consider the same cable in other lengths, or an LC-SC hybrid version if your ports differ; matching SFP/SFP+ transceivers.
Not sure which cable you need? Send us the model of your switch, transceiver or panel and we will check connectors and fibre type before you order.
