Good Connections 19" 1U Blanking Panel — Light Grey RAL 7035
1U · 19"Powder-coated steelRAL 7035 light grey483 x 45 x 12 mm
The Good Connections GC-N0041 is a 19-inch blanking panel, one rack unit (1U) high, made of powder-coated sheet steel in light grey RAL 7035, for closing unused slots in server and network cabinets. It suits anyone who wants a finished, closed front on a rack that still has empty units between switches, patch panels and servers.
A blanking panel does a simple job that matters more than it looks: open rack units let warm exhaust air flow back to the front of the equipment and let dust and foreign objects into the cabinet. Good Connections specifies the panel for horizontal mounting in 19" racks and notes that it also protects against dirt and foreign objects.
Before you order: The colour is light grey RAL 7035, which matches grey cabinets. For a black cabinet the matching 1U panel is GC-N0042 (RAL 9005); for 2U openings ask us for GC-N0043. Rack screws and cage nuts are not listed as included — most cabinets ship with a set; if yours did not, add them to the order.
What's in the Box
- 1 x 19" blanking panel, 1U, light grey RAL 7035
- Mounting screws / cage nuts: not listed by the manufacturer — plan to use the ones that came with your cabinet
What It Means in Practice
- Fills exactly one rack unit (44.45 mm pitch) — use one panel per empty U, or combine several for larger gaps
- Keeps cold-aisle air in front of the equipment instead of letting hot exhaust recirculate through the gaps
- Gives a clean, closed front — useful in offices and comms rooms where the rack is visible
- Steel construction: does not flex or crack like thin plastic snap-in blanks
What Will Not Work
- It does not provide cable entry — for cables through the front use a brush panel (Good Connections GC-N0040 is the 1U brush version)
- Not for 10" mini racks — the width is 19" (483 mm)
- No tool-less snap-in mounting is listed: it is screwed to the rack rails like any 19" device
- Colour will not match black (RAL 9005) or white (RAL 9010) cabinets

Frequently Asked Questions
How many do I need?
One per empty rack unit. Count the free U between devices; a 3U gap takes three 1U panels (or one 2U plus one 1U).
Does it really affect cooling?
In racks with front-to-back airflow, open gaps let hot exhaust recirculate to the intake side. Closing them is the cheapest way to keep intake temperatures down.
Will it fit my wall cabinet?
Yes, if the cabinet has 19" mounting rails. Width and hole spacing follow the 19" standard.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Blanking panels are the least glamorous part of a rack, but they make the difference between a cabinet that cools properly and one that runs hot at the top. Steel panels like this one also stay straight over years of opening and closing. See our full range of
rack accessories for brush panels, shelves and cable managers.
✓ Buy it if you have a light grey 19" cabinet with empty units and want a closed, properly ventilated front.
✕ Skip it if you need to pass cables through the gap — choose a brush panel — or your cabinet is black or white.
→ Also consider GC-N0042 (black 1U), a 1U brush panel for cable entry, or a cable manager for the patch area.
