The Good Connections USB-AD400 is a USB4 Gen 3x2 angled adapter (USB-C male to USB-C female) rated for 40 Gbit/s, 240 W USB PD 3.1 EPR and 8K at 60 Hz video. It turns a straight USB-C cable into a left/right angled one and acts as a port saver for laptops, tablets and handhelds.
Because it passes the full USB4 feature set — DisplayPort Alt Mode 2.0, PCIe tunnelling and Thunderbolt 3/4 compatibility — you can leave it plugged in permanently: the cable is changed and bent at the adapter, not at the laptop port.
Before you order: An adapter never makes a connection faster than its weakest part. You get 40 Gbit/s, 240 W or 8K only if the port, the cable and the device all support it.

What It Means in Practice
- Port saver: plugging and unplugging happens at the adapter, so the laptop USB-C socket wears much less.
- Angled left/right: the cable runs along the side of the laptop or handheld — useful on a crowded desk, in a dock stand or when gaming.
- Full bandwidth for docks, USB4/Thunderbolt SSDs and 8K60 or multi-monitor setups, provided the rest of the chain supports it.
What Will Not Work
- It does not add USB4 or Thunderbolt to a port that does not have it.
- 240 W only with a 240 W EPR charger, an e-marked 240 W cable and a device that accepts EPR.
- Check the space beside the port: the angled body sticks out sideways and may block a neighbouring port.
