The GrauGear G-AD-CTA-10G, article 18017, is a compact adapter with a USB Type-C socket on one side and a USB Type-A plug on the other, rated for USB 3.2 Gen 2 transfers at up to 10 Gbps in either orientation and for 3 A fast charging. It keeps USB-C drives, docks and phone cables usable on desktops, servers and older notebooks that still have only USB-A ports, in an aluminium casing with nickel-plated contacts.

Before you buy Direction matters: this part takes a USB-C cable into a USB-A port. GrauGear sells the mirror image, G-AD-ATC-10G-2, for the opposite case. A USB-A host cannot supply USB Power Delivery, so charging follows the port rating, and the adapter carries no video signal.

Which way round does this adapter work?
The USB-A end is the plug that goes into the computer, and the USB-C end is the socket for your cable or drive. For the reverse case, plugging a USB-A stick into a USB-C port, use the GrauGear G-AD-ATC-10G-2 instead.
Will an external SSD still run at full speed through it?
Yes, up to 10 Gbps, provided the USB-A port itself is USB 3.2 Gen 2. On an older 5 Gbps USB 3.0 port the drive runs at that slower port speed, which the adapter cannot change.
