Yes, up to the limit of the drive and the port. The adapter is rated for USB 3.2 Gen 2 at 10 Gbps, so a 10 Gbps USB-A SSD keeps its rated speed on a 10 Gbps USB-C host. A USB 2.0 stick still runs at USB 2.0 speed, because the adapter does not change what the device itself can do.
What is the difference between the G-AD-ATC-10G-2 and the G-AD-CTA-10G?
The gender is reversed. This part, article 18037, has a USB-C plug and a USB-A socket, so it adapts USB-A accessories to a USB-C laptop. Article 18017, the G-AD-CTA-10G, has a USB-A plug and a USB-C socket and does the opposite. Check which end plugs into the computer before ordering.
