The HPE Aruba Networking J9827A is the management module for the Aruba 5400R zl2 modular switch chassis: the 5406R zl2 (J9821A) and the 5412R zl2 (J9822A). It is the switch’s control card, running the operating system and managing the line modules. HPE lists a dual-core Freescale P2020 processor at 1.2 GHz, 4 GB DDR3 SODIMM, 16 MB flash, a 1 GB SD card and an RJ45 out-of-band management port. One module ships with each chassis, and a second one can be added for management redundancy. In practice you order it as a second module for failover, or as a replacement for a failed one.

Compatibility — check before buying:
For the 5400R zl2 chassis only. HPE lists the 5406R zl2 and 5412R zl2. The older 5400zl chassis (J8697A, J8698A) use a different management module, so check the chassis label before ordering.
