Windows Server 2019 — 5 Device CAL pack (HPE)
5 devicesWindows Server 2019EMEALicence only
The HPE P11078-A21 is a pack of five Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Device Client Access Licences (CALs), supplied by HPE for the EMEA region in a multilingual version. A Windows Server CAL gives the right to access a Windows Server; a Device CAL is assigned to a device, regardless of how many users work on that device, as Microsoft defines it. This pack licenses five devices. HPE states that its Windows Server 2019 CALs are sold with or without an HPE server, and that additional licences do not include media. In practice it is what you add when more PCs or terminals start using a Windows Server 2019.
Compatibility — check before buying:
5 devices, not 5 users — for users who work from several devices, HPE sells the 5 User CAL (P11077-A21). This pack is not a Remote Desktop Services CAL: HPE notes that RDS needs both a Windows Server CAL and an RDS CAL for each user or device (for example P11074, RDS 5 Device CAL). It does not include the server licence or installation media. HPE does not publish on its QuickSpecs which server editions or later versions these CALs cover, so send us your server version before ordering. Not sure? Tell us your model and we check it for you.

Singular Expert Insight
Count devices, not people, before choosing Device CALs: they suit shared PCs used in shifts. Where people work from laptop plus phone plus desktop, User CALs are usually cheaper. Tell us your setup and we check the licence mix. For the network that connects those devices to your server, see our network switches.
