Honeywell MS7120 Orbit Omnidirectional Scanner
1D Omnidirectional Laser · RS-232 · Presentation · 20-Line Pattern · Black
The Honeywell MS7120 Orbit is the all-time best-selling hands-free omnidirectional barcode scanner, recipient of multiple design awards and deployed in millions of retail checkout environments worldwide. This RS-232 variant is designed for integration with legacy POS systems, IBM point-of-sale terminals, and cash registers that use serial RS-232 connectivity. The Orbit's distinctive spherical design isn't just aesthetic — it enables hand-held scanning of large, bulky items. At 1,120 scans per second with a patented 20-line scan pattern and an adjustable scan head that tilts 30 degrees, the MS7120 ensures every barcode is captured quickly, from any orientation.

BUYER'S GUIDE
Best For: Retail POS systems using RS-232 serial connectivity — including IBM cash registers, legacy ECR systems, and fiscal POS terminals that use serial ports. If your existing POS infrastructure is RS-232 based, this is the direct replacement for an older presentation scanner.
RS-232 vs. USB: RS-232 requires an external power supply (sold separately) and a serial cable, but offers proven compatibility with older POS systems. If your hardware supports USB, the MK7120-71A38 (USB) is easier to deploy with no external PSU required. Contact us if you are unsure which interface your system uses.
1D Only: The MS7120 Orbit reads 1D barcodes only. If your current or future workflow includes QR codes (loyalty apps, e-coupons, mobile payments), invest in a 2D presentation scanner such as the Zebra DS9308.
Proven Track Record: The Orbit is one of the best-selling presentation scanners ever made, with Flash ROM for free firmware updates via Honeywell MetroSet 2 — protecting your infrastructure investment even if your POS software changes.
