Honeywell RS-232 Cable for Magellan Aux Port, 3 m Straight, for Xenon Scanners
RS-232 (5V signals)Magellan Aux Port3 m straightBlack
The Honeywell CBL-MAG-300-S00 is a black, straight 3 m RS-232 cable with a 10-pin modular plug that connects a Honeywell Xenon handheld scanner to the auxiliary scanner port of a Magellan bioptic (in-counter) scanner at the checkout.
"MAG" in the part number stands for Magellan Aux Port, not a magnetic stripe reader. Honeywell lists it in the Xenon accessory guide as an RS-232 cable with 5V signals and the option to take power from the host scanner. The bioptic forwards the handheld's barcodes to the POS over its own connection, so the handheld does not need a separate port on the terminal.
Before you order: This cable is only for the auxiliary port of a Magellan bioptic scanner. Don't order it to connect a scanner directly to a PC serial (COM) port — that needs the DB9 version CBL-020-300-C00 — or to a Honeywell Stratos bioptic, which uses CBL-420-300-C00.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Honeywell RS-232 cable, Magellan Aux Port, 10-pin modular, 3 m, straight, black (CBL-MAG-300-S00)
What It Means in Practice
- The handheld Xenon becomes a second scanner at the lane for heavy, bulky or awkward items that cannot be passed over the bioptic window.
- Both scanners share the bioptic's single connection to the POS, so no extra terminal port or driver is needed.
- With host scanner power, the handheld is fed through the cable and does not need its own power supply at the lane.
- The straight 3 m cord reaches across a typical checkout and lies flat along the counter.
- The auxiliary port on the bioptic must be enabled, and the Xenon must be set to RS-232; both are done with configuration barcodes or the bioptic's own settings.
What Will Not Work
- Direct connection to a PC or POS serial (COM, DB9) port — use Honeywell CBL-020-300-C00 instead.
- Honeywell Stratos bioptic auxiliary ports — Honeywell lists CBL-420-300-C00 for those.
- USB, keyboard wedge or IBM 46xx hosts.
- Scanners from other brands, or Honeywell models with a fixed cord.
Key Features
Magellan Aux Port plug
A 10-pin modular connector on the host end fits the auxiliary scanner input of a Magellan bioptic.
5V RS-232 signals
Signal levels match the bioptic's auxiliary port, so no level converter is needed.
Host scanner power option
The handheld can draw its power from the bioptic, avoiding a separate power brick at the checkout.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a cable for a magnetic card reader?
No. MAG refers to the Magellan auxiliary port. It carries barcode data from the handheld scanner to the bioptic scanner.
Does it work with a cordless Xenon 1902 or 1952g?
The cable connects to the scanner's charge/communication base, which then connects to the bioptic. The scanner itself talks to the base wirelessly.
Will the POS see two scanners?
No. The bioptic sends the handheld's barcodes over its own POS connection, so the POS usually sees a single scanning device.
Can I move the Xenon to a PC later?
Yes. Swap this cable for a Honeywell USB or DB9 RS-232 cable and scan the matching interface barcode from the user guide; the scanner itself does not change.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Adding a handheld to a bioptic through its auxiliary port is the cleanest way to cover bulky items at a checkout: one POS connection, one configuration and no extra power brick. Make sure the bioptic model actually has an aux scanner port before ordering. For other cabling at the lane, see
our cables range.
