Honeywell Xenon XP 1952g — cordless Standard Range 2D scanner, USB kit with base
Bluetooth 4.2 · 100 mStandard Range (SR)65,000 scans/chargeUSB kit
Honeywell Xenon XP 1952g (1952GSR-2USB-5-R) is a cordless Standard Range 2D area imager supplied as a USB kit: the scanner talks to its charge-and-communication base over Bluetooth 4.2, and the base connects to your PC or POS over USB.
It is built for busy tills, pharmacies, counters and stock rooms where staff need to scan bulky items away from the desk. The 1280 x 800 imager reads damaged, poorly printed and on-screen codes, tolerates fast hand movement (up to 400 cm/s on 13 mil UPC) and supports Digimarc, DotCode and OCR as well as standard 1D and 2D codes.
Before you order: This is the USB kit for the cordless 1952g. Honeywell publishes the scanner, base and USB connection for this kit but not the exact base model or cable length; if you need RS-232 or a 46xx interface, tell us and we will confirm the right cable.
What's in the Box
- Honeywell Xenon XP 1952g cordless scanner, black, with Li-ion battery
- Charge-and-communication base for the USB kit
- USB cable for connecting the base to the host
- Exact base model and cable length for this kit: not published by Honeywell
What It Means in Practice
- The scanner and base come paired as a kit, so on a PC it typically works as a USB keyboard out of the box — scans type into any application.
- Bluetooth Class 1 gives up to 100 m line of sight to the base; through walls and shelving the usable range is shorter.
- Up to 65,000 scans and about 18 hours per charge cover more than a full shift; a full charge takes about 4.5 hours in the base.
- Digimarc and OCR support help with modern packaging and documents, not only classic barcodes.
What Will Not Work
- It is not a direct-to-phone scanner kit: it is designed to work through its base; connecting straight to a tablet is possible over Bluetooth HID but is not the kit setup.
- It is not the High Density (HD) version: very small, dense codes on electronics or jewellery need the 1952g HD.
- The scanner battery is covered for 1 year, not the full 3-year scanner term.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The 1952g is the cordless member of Honeywell’s Xenon XP family, the workhorse scanner in a lot of European retail. As a kit it is the simplest way to cut the cord at a till: base, cable and scanner arrive together, and the battery comfortably lasts a full day.
✓ Buy it if you want a cordless 2D scanner for a POS or counter that works out of the box over USB.
✕ Skip it if you scan tiny high-density codes (choose the 1952g HD) or need a fixed presentation scanner.
→ Also consider Honeywell Xenon Ultra 1960g (corded) or Voyager XP 1472g (cordless, lighter-duty).
Not sure which version fits? Send us your POS or ERP software, the host device (PC, tablet, terminal) and a photo of the barcodes you scan, and we will check compatibility before you order.
