Buying the HP part matters when a company standardises on ZBooks and Z Displays: it is the cable HP lists for that pairing, it carries up to 100W, and it is a straightforward spare or replacement for a lost or damaged monitor cable.
Before you order: HP lists this cable for: ZBook Fury G7, G10, G11 and G1i; ZBook Power G7 and G10; ZBook Studio G5 and G7; ZBook Create G7; ZBook Ultra 14 G1a; ZBook 15v, 15 and 17 G5–G6. HP does not publish its length or USB data rating on the product page — if you need a specific length or 10Gbps/40Gbps data, ask us before ordering.

What It Means in Practice
- ZBook + Z Display: one USB-C connection for picture, the monitor's USB ports and up to 100W charging, when the display supports USB-C docking.
- Charging: works with a USB-C charger up to 100W.
- Spare for the desk: a genuine replacement when the original monitor cable is lost or damaged.
- Other USB-C laptops: as a 100W USB-C cable it also charges non-HP USB-C laptops, but HP only lists ZBooks as compatible.
What Will Not Work
- It will not deliver more than 100W — ZBook models supplied with higher-power chargers charge more slowly through it.
- It is not a Thunderbolt dock cable for HP Thunderbolt docks that ship with their own attached cable.
- It does not connect to HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-A ports; both ends are USB-C.
- It cannot make a USB-C port output video if the port has no DisplayPort Alt Mode.
