HP MFP Analog Fax Accessory 700 — Fax Card for LaserJet MFPs
33.6 kbps V.34Analog line · RJ-11ITU Group 3Secure memory lock
The HP MFP Analog Fax Accessory 700 (2EH31A) is an internal fax card that adds analog fax send and receive to HP LaserJet Enterprise and LaserJet Managed multifunction printers that have a fax accessory slot. It connects the MFP to a standard analog telephone line through an RJ-11 port and faxes at up to 33.6 kbps (V.34), for offices that still exchange documents with public authorities, hospitals, law firms or suppliers by fax.
Once installed, fax settings, address books and send/receive jobs are handled from the MFP control panel and its web interface. Manual and scheduled memory lock let you hold received faxes in memory until an authorised user prints them.
Before you order: Only for HP LaserJet Enterprise / Managed MFPs that support the Fax Accessory 700. HP lists models such as LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M528z, Managed MFP E52645dn, Managed Flow MFP E62665z and E82560z; our distributor lists it for LaserJet Managed MFP E72430 and Managed Flow MFP E87660. Send us your MFP model and we will confirm before you order.
What's in the Box
- HP Fax Accessory 700 fax card
- Phone cord(s) (country-specific)
- Installation guide and mounting parts
What It Means in Practice
- The card installs into the MFP's fax accessory slot; after a restart the fax menu appears on the control panel.
- Connect it to an analog line — ideally a dedicated line, not shared with a phone or alarm.
- 33.6 kbps (V.34) sends a typical page in a few seconds when the remote machine also supports V.34; older machines fall back to slower speeds automatically.
- Memory lock keeps received faxes from printing until someone enters a PIN — useful for confidential documents.
What Will Not Work
- It does not work on ISDN or digital lines, and HP notes it may not work correctly on some digital PBX systems — an analog extension or line is required.
- It will not fit inkjet, consumer LaserJet or non-Enterprise MFPs without the fax accessory slot.
- It is not a fax-to-email or internet fax service on its own.
- It does not include a telephone line — you need an active analog line from your provider.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it with a VoIP phone system?
Only through an analog port (ATA) that supports fax, and results vary; a real analog line is the reliable option.
Do I need a separate phone line?
A dedicated analog line is recommended so that calls and faxes do not conflict.
Is installation difficult?
No tools beyond what is in the box; it slots into the MFP's fax accessory port. We can install it for you if you prefer.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The most common fax problem is the line, not the card: digital PBX extensions and VoIP adapters often break fax tones. Use a real analog line or a fax-capable analog port; if you are reviewing your line equipment, see our
modems.
✓ Buy it if you have a compatible HP LaserJet Enterprise or Managed MFP and an analog line, and need reliable fax.
✕ Skip it if your office only has ISDN, digital PBX or VoIP lines without an analog fax port, or your MFP has no fax accessory slot.
→ Also consider an MFP model with built-in fax if you are replacing the printer anyway.
