Poly Blackwire 8225 — corded USB-C stereo headset with hybrid ANC
Wired USB-CHybrid ANCAcoustic Fence micUSB-A adapter included
The HP Poly Blackwire 8225 is a corded stereo USB-C headset with hybrid active noise cancelling and an Acoustic Fence boom microphone, built for people who take calls all day in open offices and want a plug-in headset with no battery to charge and no pairing to manage.
It plugs straight into USB-C, and into older USB-A ports through the included USB-C to USB-A adapter. An inline control handles answer/end, mute, volume and the ANC level, and settings and firmware can be managed with Poly Lens.
What's in the Box
- Poly Blackwire 8225 stereo USB-C headset with inline control
- USB-C to USB-A adapter
What It Means in Practice
- Three ANC settings (off, low, high) let you turn down open-office noise for yourself, while the Acoustic Fence microphone cuts background chatter for the person you are talking to.
- Total cable length is about 2.19 m (0.63 m from headset to inline control, 1.49 m from control to USB) — enough to reach a laptop on the desk or a tower underneath it.
- At 186 g, with leatherette cushions and speakers that pivot 180°, it is designed for long call days.
- SoundGuard Digital limits sudden loud sounds to protect your hearing.
- It works as a standard USB audio device with softphones such as Teams, Zoom and Webex on Windows 11/10 and macOS.
What Will Not Work
- No Bluetooth or wireless — it is a corded headset only.
- No 3.5 mm jack — it will not plug into the headset socket of a phone, laptop or desk phone.
- It does not connect to RJ9/QD desk-phone headset ports; it needs a USB-C or USB-A port.
- This listing does not claim Microsoft Teams certification. If your organisation requires the Teams-certified version, ask us before ordering.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Corded headsets remain the most reliable choice for heavy call users: no pairing, no battery to manage and no radio congestion in dense offices. The Blackwire 8225 adds hybrid ANC to that, which is what makes it suitable for open-plan floors and contact centres. See our full range of office and VoIP headsets for wireless and mono alternatives.
✓ Buy it if you take calls all day at a desk on a USB-C or USB-A computer and need noise cancelling in an open office.
✕ Skip it if you walk around while on calls or need Bluetooth for a mobile phone — a wireless headset suits you better.
→ Also consider a Bluetooth headset with ANC if you also need to take mobile calls.
