HPE Instant On 1830 (JL811A)
8× Gigabit4× PoE+ · 65WSmart ManagedCloud/App · Fanless
The HPE Networking Instant On 1830 (JL811A) is an 8-port Gigabit smart-managed switch with four PoE+ ports, built for small businesses that want real network control without complexity. Four of its eight ports deliver PoE+ power from a 65 W budget for cameras, phones or access points, while a mobile app and cloud portal make setup and management genuinely simple.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Ideal for a small office, shop or home office stepping up from an unmanaged switch. Use the four PoE+ ports for a couple of wireless access points and IP cameras, connect PCs and a NAS to the remaining Gigabit ports, and manage everything — VLANs, QoS, monitoring — from the Instant On app on your phone or the cloud portal. The fanless design keeps it silent on a desk or shelf.
Best For
✓Small offices moving beyond an unmanaged switch
✓Powering a few APs, cameras or phones over PoE+
✓Sites wanting simple phone-app / cloud management
✓Quiet spaces where a fanless switch is preferred
Key Features
8 Gigabit Ports, 4 with PoE+
Eight 10/100/1000 ports — four of them PoE+ (802.3at) — power cameras, phones or access points while the rest connect PCs, a NAS or a router at full Gigabit speed.
65 W PoE+ Budget
A 65 W total budget across the four PoE+ ports comfortably powers a couple of access points and cameras, or a small mix of PoE devices.
Instant On Cloud & App Management
Set up and manage the switch from the Instant On mobile app or cloud portal — VLANs, QoS and monitoring — alongside your other Instant On devices, with no on-site controller.
Fanless & Silent
A compact, fanless metal chassis runs completely silent and cool, suiting a desk, shelf or small rack in an office or home.

Singular Expert Insight
The Instant On 1830 8-port is the switch we recommend to a small business that has bought a couple of Instant On access points and now wants them powered and managed from the same app. Four PoE+ ports and a 65 W budget suit exactly that — a pair of APs plus a camera or two — while the remaining Gigabit ports handle the wired gear. The real draw is the phone-app management: VLANs and QoS without a controller. Pair it with matching Instant On access points for a tidy, cloud-managed small network.
