The Conceptronic HUBBIES21G is the straightforward answer to a desk that has run out of USB sockets: seven full-size USB-A ports on a 138 mm aluminium bar, all running at up to 5 Gbps. The host lead is a 2-in-1 cable carrying both a USB-A and a USB-C plug, so it connects to a new laptop and an older machine without a separate adapter, and a dedicated USB-C inlet takes a 5 V / 3 A supply for when seven devices are more than one host port should carry.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The USB-C socket is a power inlet, not an eighth data port and not a charging output — a phone plugged in there will not charge usefully. No power adapter is included, so if you intend to fill all seven sockets or connect a bus-powered drive, budget for a 5 V / 3 A supply or ask us for one. Conceptronic does not publish a per-port current figure. The 25 cm cable is short, so the hub sits beside the laptop rather than across the desk. Note also the family: the HUBBIES20G is the same chassis with 4 x USB-A plus 3 x USB-C, and the HUBBIES20GP is that one with the adapter included.

Can I plug a phone into the USB-C socket to charge it?
No. That socket is a power inlet — the way a mains adapter feeds the hub — not an output and not a data port. It is the eighth socket on a seven-port hub, which is exactly why it gets mistaken for a charging port. Devices go in the seven USB-A ports.
Do I need to buy a power adapter?
It depends how many ports you will actually use. Four or five low-draw peripherals will run from the host port alone. Fill all seven, or add a bus-powered drive, and you want a 5 V / 3 A supply in the USB-C inlet — Conceptronic does not include one and does not publish a per-port current figure. Tell us what you plan to connect and we will say whether you need it, and match a suitable adapter.
How is it different from the HUBBIES20G?
Port shape. The HUBBIES21G gives seven USB-A ports; the HUBBIES20G gives four USB-A and three USB-C in the same aluminium chassis, with the same 2-in-1 host cable and the same USB-C power inlet. If everything you own is still full-size USB, the 21G wastes nothing. If some accessories have moved to USB-C, the 20G saves you adapters. The HUBBIES20GP is the 20G with a power adapter in the box.

The choice within this Conceptronic family is not about quality, since the chassis and the electronics are shared — it is about which sockets you actually own. The HUBBIES21G is the all-USB-A option, and for a desk full of keyboards, receivers, dongles and printers it wastes no ports on connectors you never use. What makes it a better buy than a cheap seven-port hub in our USB hub range is that all seven run at 5 Gbps rather than dropping to USB 2.0, so a flash drive or a portable SSD is not throttled. The one decision to make consciously is power: bus-powered it is a peripheral hub, and with a 5 V / 3 A supply in the inlet it becomes a proper desktop hub that will hold external SSDs as well. That adapter is not in the box.

Buy it if

You need seven full-size USB ports and everything you own is USB-A. You want 5 Gbps on every port rather than a USB 2.0 port farm. Your machines are a mix of USB-A and USB-C and one host cable should fit both.

Skip it if

Some of your accessories are USB-C — the HUBBIES20G gives you three of those instead. You will fill all seven sockets or connect drives and expected an adapter in the box. You need a host cable longer than 25 cm.
