i-tec C31HUBMETAL8KPDPRO — USB-C Hub with 8K Video and 85 W Charging
USB-C video up to 8K30 / 4K1442 × USB-C 10 Gbps85 W PD pass-through5 ports, all USB-C
The i-tec C31HUBMETAL8KPDPRO is a five-port, all-USB-C hub for laptops that have gone fully USB-C: one port carries DisplayPort Alt Mode video at up to 8K 30 Hz or 4K 144 Hz plus 10 Gbps data, two more are USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) data ports, one is USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps), and the fifth is a 100 W Power Delivery input that passes up to 85 W through to the laptop while also carrying 5 Gbps data. It is bus-powered, needs no drivers, and measures 115 × 30 × 21 mm at 68 g in a metal housing on a fixed 30 cm cable. Part number C31HUBMETAL8KPDPRO comes with i-tec’s 2-year warranty.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Every socket is USB-C — USB-A peripherals need adapters (not included). Video comes out of a USB-C port, so you need a USB-C monitor or a USB-C-to-HDMI/DisplayPort adapter (not included), and the laptop’s port must support DisplayPort Alt Mode. No charger is included: laptop charging needs your own USB-C PD charger on the PD-in port, and a 100 W charger yields up to 85 W (the hub uses 15 W). No Ethernet, no card reader.
Best For
✓ USB-C monitors driven from a thin laptop
✓ High-refresh 4K gaming or 8K displays over USB-C
✓ Editing laptops with USB-C NVMe enclosures
✓ One-cable desks with the laptop charger on the hub
✓ MacBook, iPad Pro and USB-C Windows users
✓ Travel kits that want metal, not plastic
Key Features
8K or 144 Hz over one USB-C port
The video port uses DisplayPort Alt Mode with no drivers: up to 8K at 30 Hz or 4K at 144 Hz, G-Sync and FreeSync compatible, provided the host and monitor support it. The same port also carries 10 Gbps data.
Fast data, real charging
Two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports at 10 Gbps for SSDs and one Gen 1 port at 5 Gbps for everything else. Plug a USB-C PD charger into the PD-in port and up to 85 W reaches the laptop.
Metal, compact, universal
115 × 30 × 21 mm, 68 g, metal housing, 30 cm captive cable. Works on Windows 10/11, macOS, iPadOS, Android, ChromeOS and Linux.

Singular Expert Insight
The C31HUBMETAL8KPDPRO is the hub to choose when your monitor is USB-C or you own a USB-C-to-DisplayPort cable and want the highest refresh rate a hub can pass: 4K at 144 Hz is unusual at this size. If you need an HDMI socket, Ethernet or a card reader, a dock from our docking stations is the better fit; if you only need ports, the Club 3D CSV-1548 does four USB-C at 10 Gbps for less. Browse our USB hubs for USB-A alternatives. Not sure it fits your setup? Tell us your laptop or PC model and what you want to plug in and we will check it before you order.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Your laptop supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, your monitor is USB-C (or you have a C-to-DP/HDMI cable), you want two 10 Gbps ports and you already own a USB-C PD charger to pass through.
Skip it if
Your peripherals are USB-A, you need HDMI or Ethernet on the hub, you have no USB-C charger, or your laptop’s USB-C port does not carry video.
Also consider
Club 3D CSV-1548 (4 × USB-C 10 Gbps, 100 W pass-through, no video); HP ENVY USB-C Hub 5LX63AA for an HDMI socket with pass-through charging; a USB-C docking station for Ethernet and card reader.
