ICY BOX IB-HUB1437-CPD — 4-in-1 USB-C Hub, 10 Gbps with 100 W Charging

10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 22 x USB-C + 2 x USB-ASeparate 100 W PD port30 cm braided cable

The ICY BOX IB-HUB1437-CPD is a four-port USB-C hub that runs at 10 Gbps rather than the usual 5, and adds a fifth connector that exists purely to keep the laptop charged. Two USB-C and two USB-A ports handle devices; a dedicated USB-C Power Delivery socket takes your existing charger and passes power through, so a single-port laptop does not have to choose between the hub and the mains. It connects on a 30 cm braided cable with a textile sleeve.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The fifth connector is a charging input, not a data port — you plug your own USB-C charger into it, and it is what lets the hub sit permanently on a laptop with only one or two USB-C ports. No charger is included, and while ICY BOX publishes “up to 100 W” for that port, the exact split between what goes in and what reaches the laptop is not published, so expect the usual loss of roughly 15 W that every PD hub takes for itself. There is no HDMI, no Ethernet and no card reader on this model. ICY BOX lists Windows and macOS. To see 10 Gbps you need a host port and a device that both support USB 3.2 Gen 2 — on an older 5 Gbps laptop port the hub still works, just at 5.

Best For

✓ Laptops with one or two USB-C ports and nothing else
✓ 10 Gbps external SSDs where 5 Gbps would be the bottleneck
✓ Desks that need both USB-C and USB-A devices connected
✓ Working all day off the hub while the laptop charges through it
✓ Travel — short braided cable, no power brick of its own
✓ Mixed Mac and Windows desks

Key Features

10 Gbps, not 5
USB 3.2 Gen 2 on all four ports. On a fast external SSD that is the difference between roughly 450 MB/s and roughly 1000 MB/s — the reason to choose this over the many 5 Gbps hubs that look identical.

Charging that does not cost you a port
A separate USB-C socket takes your laptop charger and feeds the machine through the hub, rated by ICY BOX at up to 100 W. Without it, a hub on a single-port laptop means an unplugged laptop.

Both connector types
Two USB-C and two USB-A, so a modern SSD and an older keyboard or flash drive can be connected at the same time without adapters.

Braided 30 cm cable
A textile-sheathed lead of 30 cm — long enough to reach round the side of a laptop, short enough not to coil across the desk, and less prone to kinking at the plug than a moulded cable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the hub come with a charger?
No. The Power Delivery socket is an input — you plug in the USB-C charger you already have, and it feeds both the hub and the laptop. If your laptop charger is 65 W or 100 W, that is what to use; a 20 W phone charger will keep the hub alive but will not meaningfully charge a laptop.
How much power actually reaches my laptop?
ICY BOX publishes “up to 100 W” for the port but does not break out how much passes through to the host. Every PD hub keeps some for itself, typically around 15 W, so plan on a 100 W charger delivering somewhere in the mid-eighties to the laptop.
Will I really get 10 Gbps?
Only if both ends support it. The laptop port must be USB 3.2 Gen 2 or faster and the device must be too. Plugged into an older 5 Gbps port the hub works normally at 5 Gbps — nothing breaks, you just do not get the headline figure.
Can I connect a monitor to it?
No. There is no HDMI or DisplayPort here and the USB-C ports are data ports, not video outputs. For a screen you need a docking station — tell us the laptop and the monitor and we will confirm which one works.
Singular Expert Insight
Two things separate this from the shelf full of 5 Gbps USB-C hubs that look the same. The first is the 10 Gbps link, which only pays off if you actually own a fast external SSD — on flash drives and keyboards it changes nothing. The second is the dedicated charging port, and that is the one people underestimate: on a laptop with a single USB-C socket, a hub without PD means working on battery. Where it stops is video. There is no display output of any kind here, so if a monitor is part of the plan the category is a docking station, not this.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

Your laptop is short of ports, you own a 10 Gbps SSD or expect to, and you want the machine to charge through the same hub using the charger you already have.

Skip it if

Skip it if you need a monitor output, Ethernet or a card reader, or if all your devices are keyboards and flash drives — a 5 Gbps hub does that job for less.

Also consider

A 5 Gbps USB-C hub if speed is not the point, or a USB-C docking station if video and a network socket need to come off the same cable.
