ICY BOX IB-HUB1419-i3 — 20 Gbps USB-C and a card reader on the front of the case
USB-C at 20 GbpsSD and microSD 3.0, both usable at once2 x USB-A + 1 x USB-C at 5 GbpsFits a 3.5-inch bay
The ICY BOX IB-HUB1419-i3 is a six-in-one front panel for a standard 3.5-inch drive bay. It brings out one USB-C port at up to 20 Gbps — fed from the motherboard’s USB Type-E header, the connector modern boards label as the front-panel USB-C header — plus a second USB-C and two USB-A ports at 5 Gbps, and SD and microSD 3.0 card slots that read at up to 104 MB/s and work at the same time thanks to Multi-LUN support. Power comes from a 15-pin SATA connector, and a screw set is included.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The 20 Gbps port only reaches 20 Gbps if your motherboard has a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-E header — the internal 20-pin USB-C front-panel connector. On a board without one that port cannot be fed at full rate, and this is the single most common way to be disappointed by this panel, so check the motherboard manual first and tell us the model if you want us to check it for you. ICY BOX does not list a USB Type-E cable in the scope of delivery and does not publish whether that lead is captive on the panel, so confirm with us before assuming a drop-in fit. You also need a free 3.5-inch bay, which many current cases no longer have, and a spare 15-pin SATA power connector. Dimensions and weight are not published.
Best For
✓ Desktop builds with a USB-C front-panel header going unused
✓ Photographers and video editors emptying cards at the machine
✓ Cases that still have a 3.5-inch bay
✓ Workstations where reaching the back of the tower is a chore
✓ Fast external SSDs on a desktop
✓ Anyone who wants the card reader inside the case, not on the desk
Key Features
20 Gbps from the board’s own header
The top USB-C port is fed by a 20-pin USB Type-E header and runs USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 at up to 20 Gbps — the fastest connection most desktop cases can offer at the front, and twice what a Gen 2 port manages.
Two cards at the same time
SD 3.0 and microSD 3.0 UHS-I slots read up to 104 MB/s and support Multi-LUN, so both cards can be mounted and used together rather than one at a time.
Four ports as well as the reader
Beyond the 20 Gbps socket there is a second USB-C and two USB-A ports at 5 Gbps, so the panel replaces a desktop hub and a card reader in one bay.

Singular Expert Insight
Almost everything in our USB hub range hangs off a cable. This one is different: it goes inside the machine and turns an empty 3.5-inch bay into the fastest front-panel connection a desktop can have. The 20 Gbps figure is the whole point, and it is entirely conditional on the motherboard having a Gen 2x2 Type-E header — check that first, because without it you have paid for a good 5 Gbps panel with a card reader. The reader itself is a genuine bonus rather than a token: SD and microSD 3.0 with Multi-LUN means two cards at once, which many standalone card readers still do not manage. Also confirm you have a free 3.5-inch bay; slim and glass-front cases increasingly do not, and no adapter fixes that.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Your motherboard has a USB-C front-panel Type-E header sitting unused and your case has a free 3.5-inch bay. You empty SD and microSD cards regularly and want the reader in the machine. You want a 20 Gbps port at the front of the tower rather than a dongle on the desk.
Skip it if
Your motherboard has no Gen 2x2 Type-E header — the headline speed is unavailable. Your case has no 3.5-inch bay or no spare SATA power connector. You need certainty about the Type-E cable today, which ICY BOX does not publish.
Also consider
A 5 Gbps front panel if your board has no Type-E header. A desktop USB-C hub if you would rather not open the case. A standalone card reader if the card slots are all you actually need.
