The ICY BOX IB-M2HS-PS5 is an all-aluminium heatsink for M.2 2280 SSDs, sized for the PlayStation 5 expansion slot and also usable in standard M.2 slots on PC motherboards. It draws heat away from the SSD controller and NAND to help a fast NVMe drive sustain its performance during long game installs and transfers.
The black heatsink has 22 cooling fins, measures 76 × 24 × 9 mm and comes with three silicone thermal pads (1.5 W/mK), a screw set and a screwdriver.
Before you order: For M.2 2280 SSDs only. ICY BOX does not publish a maximum combined height or a statement on double-sided SSDs — if you are using a specific SSD, send us its model and we will check fit.

What It Means in Practice
- Gives a bare NVMe SSD the heatsink Sony recommends for drives fitted in the PS5 expansion slot.
- Also cools M.2 2280 SSDs in desktops whose motherboard has no M.2 heatsink.
- Thermal pads transfer heat from the SSD to the aluminium fins; no fan or power needed.
What Will Not Work
- It does not fit M.2 2230, 2242 or 22110 SSDs — 2280 only.
- It is not an SSD — the drive is sold separately.
- It does not cool SATA 2.5-inch SSDs or HDDs.
