The ICY DOCK EZ-Slide Mini MB991TRAY-B is a spare drive tray for ICY DOCK’s ToughArmor racks that accept full-height 2.5-inch drives. It is the carrier a drive is screwed into before it slides into the cage, built in SECC steel and weighing 91.5 g, and its defining specification is height: ICY DOCK publishes support for 5, 7, 9.5, 12.5 and 15 mm drives, so the tall 2.5-inch enterprise disks that will not go into the thinner EZ-Slide trays fit here. Screws are supplied with the tray. There is no keylock — the drive is retained by the cage latch, and MB994TK-B is the locking version of the same carrier.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Fits: ToughArmor MB105, MB508, MB601VK-B, MB602, MB607, MB699, MB902, MB991 and MB994 series racks. That is ICY DOCK’s description list; the page title for this tray names a slightly shorter set, omitting MB105 and MB902, so we publish the fuller list and recommend confirming the exact model with us if yours is one of those two. The Mini tray does not interchange with the other EZ-Slide sizes: at 115 × 70 × 18 mm it is far thicker than the Micro (MB992TRAY-B, 11.5 mm, 9.5 mm drives) and the Nano (MB998TP-B, 10.1 mm, 7 mm drives), and it will not enter their cages — nor will theirs enter a Mini cage. Interface is whatever the parent cage and host controller provide; the tray itself is passive and ICY DOCK publishes no interface specification for it, so a SAS disk still needs a SAS controller. Read the model number off the front of your cage and send it to us if there is any doubt.

That top figure is what separates it from the rest of the range: the high-capacity 2.5-inch enterprise disks are 15 mm, and neither the 9.5 mm Micro tray nor the 7 mm Nano tray will close over one. If your drives are the tall kind, this is the family to be in.
SECC steel, built for cycling
The tray is SECC — electro-galvanised steel — rather than plastic, in keeping with the ToughArmor line. At 91.5 g it is the heaviest of the EZ-Slide trays, which is the direct consequence of holding a full-height drive and taking the insertion force through metal.
Screws in the box
ICY DOCK lists the package contents as the drive tray and screws, so the drive can be mounted properly without sourcing hardware. No keys are listed, because this is the plain tray — the locking equivalent for the same cages is the MB994TK-B.

Singular Expert Insight
Drive height is what decides which EZ-Slide tray you need, and it is worth measuring rather than assuming. Almost every current 2.5-inch SSD is 7 mm, so the thinner trays cover most builds — but the moment a high-capacity 2.5-inch enterprise HDD is involved, that drive is 15 mm and only the Mini family will take it. If you are populating a rack with a mix of both, the Mini tray handles the whole range from 5 mm to 15 mm, which makes it the safer choice when you do not yet know what drives will end up in the cage. You own a ToughArmor MB994, MB607, MB699, MB602, MB508, MB991, MB105, MB902 or MB601VK-B rack and want more trays, and your drives are 2.5-inch up to 15 mm.
Skip it if
Your cage takes the Micro or Nano tray — the Mini will not seat. Or you need a lockable carrier, which for these cages is the MB994TK-B.
