The ICY DOCK EX-Secure MB492TKL-B is the spare drive tray for one specific rack: the ToughArmor MB492SKL-B, a rugged full-metal two-bay 2.5-inch mobile rack for an external 3.5-inch bay. It is a metal carrier with a dual-lock design rather than a simple latch, which is the point of the EX-Secure line — these racks are used where a drive must not be removed casually or shaken loose in transit. Keys and screws are supplied with the tray. It takes 2.5-inch SAS and SATA drives from 5 mm to 9.5 mm, and buying one per drive is what turns the rack into something you can swap in seconds.
Compatibility — check before buying:
One cage: the ToughArmor MB492SKL-B. ICY DOCK names that rack and no other, and the rack’s own page names this tray in return, so the pairing is unambiguous — but it also means the tray is useless with anything else. Two things to watch. First, ICY DOCK’s own page title for this tray writes the cage as “MB492SLK-B”; the actual rack is the MB492SKL-B, so do not let a transposed listing send you to a different part number. Second, the sibling MB491TKL-B is the EX-Secure Mini tray for a different cage — it is not a substitute. Drive height is 5–9.5 mm; a 12.5 mm or 15 mm 2.5-inch disk will not fit. And a limitation that comes from the parent rack rather than the tray: the MB492SKL-B does not support the SATA 3.3 / SAS 3.0 Power Disable feature, so a PWDIS enterprise drive fitted in this tray will not spin up. Dual-lock, not a latch
EX-Secure is ICY DOCK’s answer to racks that travel or sit somewhere public. The tray uses a dual-lock design with keys supplied, so a drive stays where it was put — the parent rack itself carries a two-segment keylock and a thumb-screw front. That is a different proposition from a spring latch, and it is the whole reason this tray exists as a separate part.
Metal, sized for the rack it serves
The tray is metal and measures 118.4 × 84.2 × 11.3 mm at 60 g — noticeably wider than the EZ-Slide trays, which is why it fits nothing else. It carries 2.5-inch SAS and SATA I, II and III drives from 5 mm to 9.5 mm, with the interface set by the rack and the host controller rather than by the tray.
Tray, screws and keys in the box
ICY DOCK lists the package contents as the drive tray, screws and keys, which is more complete than most spare trays in the range. The drive can be mounted and locked without sourcing anything, and the keys are the part you would otherwise have to chase through the distributor.

In that situation the difference between a latch and a dual lock is the whole security model, and it is worth having one tray per drive so that a secured drive is never left half-mounted. The only two things to check are the cage code — watch the SKL and SLK transposition — and Power Disable on the drive, because a PWDIS disk in a rack that does not support it fails silently.
