The ICY DOCK EZ-Slide Nano MB998TP-B is a spare metal drive tray for ICY DOCK’s highest-density 2.5-inch ToughArmor racks. It is the carrier a drive is fixed into before it slides into the cage, and it is built to the Nano profile — 117.4 × 71.9 × 10.1 mm and 45.9 g — because the cages it serves fit eight drives into a single 5.25-inch bay. That density is what sets the drive limit: 7 mm, and no more. ICY DOCK lists both 2.5-inch SATA drives and U.2 / U.3 NVMe SSDs at that height. Buy one per drive and a disk change becomes a two-second pull-and-push instead of a screwdriver job.
Compatibility — check before buying:
ToughArmor MB516, MB924 and MB998 series — those three are named consistently by ICY DOCK. The manufacturer also lists the MB606 series in the description text on this tray’s page and on its lockable sibling, while the page title omits it; we report both positions rather than picking one, and if your cage is an MB606, send us the exact model and we will confirm with the distributor before you order. What is certain is that the Nano tray does not interchange with the other EZ-Slide sizes: the Micro trays (MB992TRAY-B, MB996TK-B) are about 2 mm narrower and 1.4 mm taller, and the Mini trays (MB991TRAY-B) are taller still. They will not swap. Two more limits: 7 mm maximum drive height, so a 9.5 mm SSD that works in a Micro tray will not fit here; and ICY DOCK lists SATA and U.2/U.3 for this tray but not SAS, so if your drives are SAS, tell us and we will check the correct tray. The Nano profile exists because the parent cages pack up to eight 2.5-inch drives into a single 5.25-inch bay. At 10.1 mm the tray leaves room for a 7 mm drive and nothing more, which is the trade the whole design makes: maximum density in exchange for a firm height limit.
SATA and U.2 / U.3 NVMe
ICY DOCK publishes support for 2.5-inch SATA I, II and III drives and for U.2 / U.3 NVMe SSDs, both up to 7 mm. The tray itself is passive — whether an NVMe drive actually works depends on the cage having an NVMe backplane and the host having the connection to match, so check the whole chain, not just the tray.

The tray is metal, in keeping with the ToughArmor line, and weighs 45.9 g. Because a hot-swap rack only saves time when every drive already lives in its own tray, these are bought several at a time — one per drive is the practical target, not one per bay.
