ICY DOCK ExpressTray MB732TP-B — Spare Tray for MB732SPO-B and MB324V4P-B
Two named cagesUp to 15 mm drivesSAS, SATA and U.2 / U.330 g
The ICY DOCK ExpressTray MB732TP-B is a spare drive tray for two ExpressCage mobile racks: the MB732SPO-B and the MB324V4P-B. It is the plastic carrier a drive is fixed into before it slides into the cage, with no electronics of its own — the cage and the host controller provide the connection. What sets this tray apart from the thinner ExpressTrays is capacity: it takes 2.5-inch drives up to 15 mm thick, and ICY DOCK lists both SAS/SATA disks and U.2 or U.3 NVMe SSDs at that height. Buy one per drive and swapping storage becomes a matter of pulling one tray and pushing in another.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Two cages, named exactly: MB732SPO-B and MB324V4P-B. The trap here is the number 324. The MB324SP-B cage looks like a match and is not — it takes the MB324TP-B tray, while the MB324V4P-B takes this one. Read the full model number off the front of the cage, including the letters, before ordering; the two are one character apart and not interchangeable. Drive height is up to 15 mm, which covers thick 2.5-inch enterprise HDDs and U.2 SSDs. Because the tray is passive, what actually works depends on the cage and the host: a U.2 or U.3 NVMe drive needs an NVMe-capable cage and host connection, and a SAS disk needs a SAS controller. ICY DOCK does not publish a package contents list for this tray, so we do not state a screw count — ask us and we will confirm with the distributor before you order.
Best For
✓ Adding spare trays so drives can be swapped without tools
✓ U.2 or U.3 NVMe SSDs up to 15 mm in a compatible ExpressCage
✓ Thick 15 mm 2.5-inch enterprise hard disks
✓ Replacing a tray lost or damaged in service
✓ Rotating backup or archive sets, one drive per tray
✓ Test and imaging benches where drives change constantly
Key Features
Fifteen millimetres, including U.2
Most spare trays stop at 9.5 or 12.5 mm. This one is published for 2.5-inch SAS and SATA drives and U.2 / U.3 NVMe SSDs up to 15 mm, which is the height class of the high-capacity enterprise drives. If your cage is one of the two it fits, this is the tray that takes the thick drives.
One tray per drive, no tools
The point of a mobile rack is that a drive change takes seconds. That only works if each drive already lives in its own tray — otherwise every swap means finding a screwdriver. At 30 g and 120.5 × 72 × 19 mm the tray is cheap to stock in quantity, which is why most cages end up with more trays than they shipped with.
Passive, so nothing to go wrong
There is no electronics on the tray: it locates the drive so the cage backplane can reach it, and that is all. Interface, speed and hot-swap behaviour come from the cage and the host controller, which means the tray never becomes the limiting factor and never needs a firmware update.

Singular Expert Insight
Trays are bought in the wrong quantity far more often than in the wrong type. One cage plus one tray means every drive change is a screwdriver job, which defeats the purpose of a mobile rack; one tray per drive is what makes the rack worth owning. The only real risk with this particular part is the 324 collision — MB324SP-B and MB324V4P-B take different trays, so read the whole model number, not the first six characters. If you are still building the storage rather than servicing it, our HDD and SSD enclosures range covers the cages these trays belong to, and enterprise SSDs covers the 2.5-inch drives that go in them.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You own an ExpressCage MB732SPO-B or MB324V4P-B and want more trays than it came with, and your drives are 2.5-inch SAS, SATA or U.2 / U.3 up to 15 mm.
Skip it if
Your cage is an MB324SP-B — that takes the MB324TP-B tray. Your cage is any other model. Or you were looking for the cage itself rather than a spare carrier.
Also consider
ICY DOCK MB324TP-B for the ExpressCage MB324SP-B, MB741TP-B for the single-bay MB741SP-B, or the ExpressCage itself if you do not yet own the rack.
