The Intellinet 507479 (also ISFP-10G-LCSM-10KM) is a 10 Gbit SFP+ transceiver for single-mode fibre, reaching up to 10 km at 1310 nm over an LC duplex connection, with digital diagnostics and a 1 W maximum draw. It is an MSA-compliant module for Intellinet SFP+ switches and the many other switches that accept standard SFP+ optics. In practice, single-mode optics are the choice when a link leaves the building or runs several hundred metres: the OS2 fibre used by carriers and campus backbones carries the signal for kilometres with little loss. Before you order, confirm the fibre is single-mode at both ends and note the length and the number of patch panels on the way.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Intellinet describes it as equivalent to a Cisco 10G LR module, but it is not Cisco-coded: Cisco, HPE and other switches that lock out third-party optics may refuse it. It needs single-mode fibre — it will not work on OM3/OM4 multimode — and it is 10G only, not for 1G SFP ports. Keep the dust cap on until you connect the fibre, and clean both connector ends before every mating — dirt is the most common cause of a link that will not come up. Not sure?
