Intellinet OM1 LC to ST Duplex Fibre Patch Cord — 2 m
OM1 multimodeLC/UPC to ST/UPC2 m · OrangeLSZH · Ø 3.0 mm
The Intellinet 471312 is a 2 m duplex OM1 multimode fibre patch cord with LC on one end and ST on the other, for connecting multimode SR/SX transceivers, switches, media converters and patch panels. OM1 is 62.5/125 µm multimode — the legacy core size of older building backbones and equipment; it is only for patching into existing 62.5 µm links.
Both ends: LC — the small latching connector used by SFP, SFP+ and SFP28 transceivers and most modern patch panels; and ST — the round bayonet (twist-lock) connector found on legacy multimode panels and older industrial equipment.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Intellinet OM1 multimode duplex fibre patch cable, LC to ST, 2 m (supplied in a polybag)
What It Means in Practice
- Duplex means two fibres side by side, one transmit and one receive. The cord crosses Tx to Rx for you; if a link stays dark after patching, swap the two connectors on one end — it is the most common fibre patching mistake.
- 2 m is the right length rack to adjacent rack, or top to bottom of a cabinet. Order the shortest length that reaches without tension — excess fibre has to be coiled in the cable manager.
- Route the cord with gentle bends and keep it away from sharp edges and door hinges; fibre loses light when bent too tightly.
- LSZH jacket — low smoke, zero halogen — the expected choice for offices, server rooms and public buildings.
- Keep the dust caps on until the moment you plug in. A dirty ferrule is the number one cause of high loss; clean the end faces if the ports have been left open.
What Will Not Work
- Singlemode optics (LR, LX, ER, BiDi) — they need a 9/125 µm singlemode (OS2) cord; multimode fibre does not substitute.
- Mixing with 50/125 µm (OM2, OM3, OM4) cabling — the 62.5 µm core does not match and causes high loss; keep the whole link 62.5/125.
- Ports with SC, MTP/MPO, E2000 connectors — this cord terminates in LC and ST only.
- Green APC (8° angled) ports, as found on many FTTH/GPON terminals — this cord is UPC; you need an APC cord there.
- Copper RJ45 ports — fibre needs an SFP/fibre port or a media converter on each side.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it work with my SFP+ module?
Yes, if the module is a multimode SR/SX type with an LC duplex port. The fibre grade must match the optic: multimode optics need multimode fibre.
Can I extend it?
Yes, with a matching LC or ST coupler in a panel. Every mated pair adds some insertion loss — fine for short patching, but plan long links as a single cord or a permanent installation.
Can I mix OM1 with other multimode grades?
Only with other 62.5/125 µm (OM1) fibre. OM2, OM3 and OM4 have a 50 µm core and must not be mixed with OM1.
UPC or APC — does it matter?
Yes. This cord is UPC (flat polish), the standard for data-centre and enterprise switches. Green APC ports need an APC cord.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Fibre patch cords are chosen by three things: the fibre grade (it must match the optics), the connector on each end and the polish. OM1 with LC to ST is the combination this cord covers. Need the active side as well? Browse our
switches with SFP ports and match the transceiver to multimode fibre.
✓ Buy it if you need a 2 m OM1 multimode link with LC on one end and ST on the other and UPC ports.
✕ Skip it if your optics are singlemode (LR/LX/BiDi), your ports are APC (green), or you need a different connector on either end.
→ Also consider an OM3 cord if your link is actually 50/125 µm — check the label printed on the existing cable before ordering.
Not sure which grade or connector you have? Send us the model of your switch, transceiver or panel and we will check it before you order.
