Intellinet LC/UPC to SC/UPC OM2 Multimode Fibre Patch Cable, Duplex, 2 m
OM2 MultimodeLC/UPC – SC/UPCDuplex · 3.0 mm2 m
The Intellinet 470377 is a 2 m duplex OM2 multimode fibre optic patch cable (50/125 µm) with LC/UPC connectors on one end and SC/UPC on the other, for linking an LC-port SFP module and SC-terminated panels or media converters.
It uses a 3.0 mm orange LSZH jacket over tight-buffered fibre with aramid (Kevlar) strength members, ceramic ferrules and UPC polish. Intellinet specifies insertion loss of up to 0.30 dB and return loss of at least 35 dB, and positions this cable for Gigabit Ethernet. It comes in a polybag and carries Intellinet's Lifetime Warranty.
Before you order: This is OM2 multimode (orange). It only works with multimode optics (SX, 850 nm) and multimode panels; it will not work with singlemode LX/LR modules. For new 10G multimode installations OM3/OM4 is the usual choice — ask us if unsure.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Intellinet LC/UPC–SC/UPC duplex OM2 multimode patch cable, 2 m
- Polybag packaging
What It Means in Practice
- Connect multimode optics (SX class, 850 nm) with LC duplex ports to SC ports over 2 m.
- Duplex = two fibres (transmit and receive). If the link stays down, swap the two connectors on one side; crossed polarity is the most common cause.
- The 3.0 mm jacket is sturdier than 2 mm patch cords — a good fit for patching that gets handled often, at the cost of more bulk in dense racks.
- Multimode reach depends on the optics and speed; Intellinet does not publish distance figures for this cable, so size the link from your transceiver datasheet.
- Keep the dust caps on until the moment you plug in, and never look into a connected fibre end — singlemode and multimode transmitters use invisible infrared light.
What Will Not Work
- Singlemode equipment (LX/LR optics, OS1/OS2 panels).
- APC (green) ports — the ends are UPC.
- Ports other than LC and SC — for LC-to-LC links choose an LC–LC cord.
- Outdoor or between-building runs — this is an indoor patch cable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this multimode?
Yes, OM2 multimode (orange jacket). Use it only with multimode optics.
Which speeds does it support?
Intellinet positions OM2 for Gigabit Ethernet. For 10G multimode, OM3 or OM4 cabling is normally specified.
What does "UPC" mean for me?
UPC is the standard flat-polish end face used by data network equipment (normally blue connectors on singlemode, beige/black on multimode). It is not compatible with green APC ports.
Do I need to clean the connectors?
New cords are clean when the caps come off. After any unplugging, clean the end face with a fibre cleaning pen or lint-free wipe before reconnecting; dust is the most common cause of high loss.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Hybrid and SC cords are typical in networks where older panels stay in place while
switches with SFP/SFP+ ports are added. Match three things before ordering: mode (multimode), connectors at each end, and UPC polish. This Intellinet cable is OM2 — fine for Gigabit, but plan OM3/OM4 for 10G multimode.
✓ Buy it if you need a duplex OM2 multimode link between LC/UPC and SC/UPC ports over 2 m.
✕ Skip it if your equipment is singlemode, APC, or uses different connectors.
→ Also consider OM3/OM4 duplex cords for 10G multimode, or the other OM2 hybrids (LC–SC, LC–ST).
