The Intellinet 2m LC to ST patch cable is a duplex OS2 single-mode 9/125 µm fibre jumper with UPC-polished ceramic ferrules, built for linking equipment with LC ports (SFP transceivers, modern switches) to older ST panels, media converters or wall outlets.
The 3.0 mm LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is yellow, the usual colour code for single-mode fibre, so it is easy to tell apart from other links in a crowded rack. Insertion loss is rated at ≤0.25 dB per connector and return loss at ≥55 dB.
Before you order: Fibre type must match on both ends. This is OS2 single-mode (9 µm core) — it will not work with multimode (OM1–OM5) transceivers or patch panels.

What It Means in Practice
- Duplex means two fibres in one zip-cord: one carries transmit, the other receive — exactly what SFP/SFP+ ports and media converters expect.
- One end is LC (small push-pull, used on SFP modules), the other ST (bayonet twist-lock, common on older panels and converters), so it replaces an extra adapter in mixed installations.
- OS2 single-mode carries 1G and 10G over long distances; the reach is set by the transceivers you use, not by this short jumper.
- LSZH jacketing is the safer choice inside offices and server rooms, where low smoke and no halogen gases matter in case of fire.
What Will Not Work
- Multimode SFP modules (SX, SR) or multimode patch panels — use an OM3/OM4 cable instead.
- Ports with other connectors (SC, MTP/MPO, E2000) unless you use the matching connector type at each end.
- APC (green, angled) ports — this cable is UPC polished; mating UPC with APC damages the end faces.
- Copper RJ45 ports — fibre needs an SFP module or a media converter.
