The Intellinet 504768 is a shielded (FTP) Cat5e inline coupler that joins two RJ45 patch cables end to end, letting you extend an existing network cable without crimping new plugs. It is aimed at offices, installers and home users who need a quick, robust extension of a Fast Ethernet or Gigabit link.
Its metal housing and 50-micro-inch gold-plated contacts make it sturdier than plastic couplers, and the straight-through wiring means it simply passes every pin through, whatever T568A or T568B cords you use.
Before you order: Performance is Cat5e. Joining two Cat6 or Cat6A cables through it limits the connection to Cat5e level.
