Reach an outdoor camera or access point beyond 100 m without running mains power
802.3at/af PoE+Up to 25 W outputIP65 metal housing-40 to 75 °C
The Intellinet 561211 is an outdoor Gigabit PoE+ extender that sits in the middle of a long Ethernet run and adds another 100 m, passing both data and up to 25 W of PoE power to an IEEE 802.3af/at camera, access point or IP phone.
Ethernet and PoE are limited to 100 m per cable segment. Place the extender at or before the 100 m point, and it regenerates the Gigabit signal and forwards power from your PoE switch or injector to the next segment, so a single unit gives you up to 200 m in total. It draws its own power from the incoming PoE, so no mains socket is needed at the mounting point. The fanless metal housing is rated IP65 and -40 to 75 °C, which suits poles, perimeter walls, car parks and building exteriors where a standard indoor extender would fail. Typical jobs are a gate or perimeter camera beyond the reach of the nearest cabinet, an outdoor access point across a car park, or a second building where pulling mains to the halfway point would cost more than the extender itself.
Before you order: The extender must be fed by an IEEE 802.3at or 802.3af PoE switch or injector. To pass the full 25 W to your device, the source must be 802.3at (PoE+); an 802.3af source cannot supply a 25 W load.

- Instructions
What It Means in Practice
- One unit: switch to extender up to 100 m, extender to device up to 100 m, 200 m in total.
- Longer runs: up to four extenders can be cascaded for a maximum of 500 m. Each extra unit uses up to 4 W of the power budget, and longer cables add losses, so a high-draw device may not run at the end of a long chain.
- Power budget: the extender itself uses up to 4 W and outputs up to 25 W. Size your PoE source above the device draw plus the extender consumption.
- PoE-aware output: power is sent only to 802.3af/at devices. A non-PoE device on the output receives data only, so it is not damaged.
- Speeds: 10/100/1000 Mbps on both ports. Use Cat5e or better outdoor-rated cable for reliable Gigabit.
- Input accepts PoE on either pair set (Alternative A or B), so it works with both midspan injectors and PoE switches. Output is Alternative A (pins 1/2 and 3/6).
- Mounting is by the wall-mount holes in the housing; pole straps are not in the box.
What Will Not Work
- Running from a normal, non-PoE switch port: there is no power input on the extender, so it needs a PoE switch or injector upstream.
- Devices that need more than 25 W, such as PTZ cameras with heaters, high-power IR or 802.3bt access points.
- Passive 24 V or 48 V PoE devices: the output only powers IEEE 802.3af/at devices.
- Multi-gigabit (2.5G, 5G, 10G) links: the ports are Gigabit maximum.
- Pole mounting out of the box: pole brackets or straps are not published as included.
Key Features
Built for outdoors
IP65 metal housing, fanless, rated for -40 to 75 °C, so it can sit on an exterior wall or pole instead of in a cabinet.
No local power needed
It takes its power from the incoming PoE line, which removes the cost of bringing mains to a remote mounting point and means the device and extender restart together when you power-cycle the switch port.
PoE+ pass-through
Supports IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at on both sides and forwards up to 25 W to the powered device.
Shielded Gigabit ports
Two shielded RJ45 ports at 10/100/1000 Mbps reduce interference on long outdoor runs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where should I install it?
At or before the 100 m point of the first cable run, measured from the switch. Do not leave a first segment longer than 100 m and expect the extender to recover it.
Will my PoE camera still get enough power after two extenders?
Each extender uses up to 4 W, and cable losses grow with length. Check the camera's maximum draw and add 4 W per unit plus margin against your switch port budget.
Can I connect a laptop or non-PoE device to the output?
Yes. The output is PoE-aware and only sends power to 802.3af/at devices; others get data only.
Does it need its own power supply?
No. It is powered from the incoming PoE line.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Most extender problems come from the power budget, not the data. Start from the device's maximum draw, add 4 W for each extender in the chain, and make sure the switch port is 802.3at with that much to spare. Seal the cable entries and use outdoor-rated cable, because the IP65 rating protects the housing, not a bare RJ45 plug. Pair it with our
IP cameras for perimeter coverage beyond 100 m.
✓ Buy it if Buy it if you need to place a PoE camera, access point or other 802.3af/at device between 100 m and 500 m from the switch, outdoors, without mains at the mounting point.
✕ Skip it if Skip it if your device needs more than 25 W, uses passive PoE, or needs multi-gigabit speeds; or if the distance is long enough that fibre with a media converter is the better link.
→ Also consider An 802.3at PoE+ switch or injector at the source, outdoor-rated Cat5e or Cat6 cable, weatherproof RJ45 boots and a pole bracket if you mount on a pole.
