Jabra Link 14201-17 — EHS Adapter for Polycom Desk Phones
Electronic hook switchPolycom SoundPoint IP / VVXJabra wireless basesPart 14201-17
The Jabra Link 14201-17 is an electronic hook switch (EHS) adapter that lets a Jabra wireless office headset answer and end calls on a Polycom SoundPoint IP or VVX desk phone, so the user no longer has to lift the handset or press the headset key on the phone. Jabra describes it as a plug-and-play EHS solution for Polycom.
The cable runs between the AUX port of the Jabra headset base and the AUX/EHS port of the Polycom phone. Audio still travels over the telephone cable that comes with the headset base; the Link 14201-17 adds the hook-switch signalling, so pressing the button on the headset picks up or hangs up the call even when you are away from the desk.
Before you order: This is a Polycom-specific adapter. The phone must have an AUX (EHS) port and be set to Headset Hook Switch mode "Jabra EHS"; the Jabra base must be a wireless headset base with an AUX port.
What's in the Box
- Jabra Link 14201-17 EHS adapter cable (AUX to AUX, marked with a red band)
- Headset, base and the base-to-phone audio cable are not included — they come with your headset
What It Means in Practice
- Without EHS, a wireless headset user can hear the phone ring but has to go back to the desk to pick up the call; with the Link 14201-17 the headset button answers it.
- Typical set-up: on the Jabra base set EHS mode to DHSG and the dial-tone switch to A; on the Polycom phone set Headset Hook Switch to "Jabra EHS" (Jabra setup guide).
- Works across the Polycom SoundPoint IP 320/321/330/331/335/430/450/550/560/650/670 and VVX families that Jabra lists for this adapter.
- Use it with Jabra wireless headsets that have a desk base, such as the PRO 9400 series or Engage 65/75.
What Will Not Work
- Other phone brands (Cisco, Avaya, Alcatel, Siemens/Unify) — each needs its own Jabra Link EHS adapter or a DHSG cable.
- Polycom phones without an AUX/EHS port.
- Corded or USB headsets — EHS adapters are for Jabra wireless headset bases only.
- On its own — it does not carry audio and does not replace the headset base or the telephone cable.
Key Features
Remote answer and end
Pick up and hang up Polycom calls from the headset button, away from the desk.
Plug-and-play
Jabra describes the adapter as a plug-and-play EHS solution for Polycom phones.
Clear cable marking
The red band marks the AUX ends, so it is not confused with the blue-band phone cable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I still need the normal telephone cable?
Yes. The audio goes through the cable that connects the Jabra base to the phone. The Link 14201-17 only adds call control.
My Polycom phone is a VVX model — is it supported?
Jabra lists the VVX series together with SoundPoint IP models for this adapter, provided the phone has an AUX/EHS port.
Can I use it with a Cisco or Avaya phone?
No. EHS signalling differs by phone brand. Tell us the phone model and we will point you to the right Jabra Link.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
EHS is what turns a wireless headset from "hands-free audio" into real remote call handling, so for Polycom desks the 14201-17 is the piece that makes the investment worth it. Check that the phone has an AUX port and the base has an AUX socket before ordering. You can find matching headsets in our
Office & VoIP headsets range.
✓ Buy it if you use a Polycom SoundPoint IP or VVX phone with a Jabra wireless headset and want to answer calls from the headset.
✕ Skip it if your phone is not Polycom, it has no AUX/EHS port, or your headset is corded or USB.
→ Also consider Jabra Link 14201-10 (DHSG cable) for Siemens/Unify and other DHSG phones, or Jabra Link 14201-36 for Alcatel.
