Jabra Engage 45 SE Stereo DECT Wireless Headset with Base Unit and Deskphone Adapter Cable
Up to 150 m DECT rangeUp to 13 h talk timeFIPS 140 256-bit encryptionBase unit in the box
The Jabra Engage 45 SE is a dual-ear DECT headset built for contact centres and reception desks, where the headset has to reach across a floor without dropping the call. Order code 9659-523-111 is the stereo version and it arrives with its own base unit, a phone adapter cable and a power supply. Jabra publishes up to 150 m of DECT range and up to 13 hours of talk time, on a battery the user can swap themselves. Encryption is DECT Security certified with FIPS 140 256-bit, which is why this family turns up in regulated call centres.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Out of the box this is a deskphone headset. Jabra states the Engage 45 SE is designed to be used with a desk phone, and the box contains a phone adapter cable, not a USB adapter. For softphone or PC calls you need the Jabra Link 400 USB DECT adapter, which is sold separately — some distributor listings for this code mention a Link 400, but it is not in Jabra’s published box contents. There is also no Bluetooth on this model. The extra charging stand is an optional accessory too. Tell us which desk phone you have and we will confirm the cable before you order.
Best For
✓ Contact centres and reception desks on desk phones
✓ Floors where staff need to walk away from the desk on a call
✓ Regulated environments that require encrypted DECT
✓ Shifts long enough to need a swappable battery
✓ Teams that want a visible busy indicator
✓ Desks standardising on one headset per seat
Key Features
Up to 150 m DECT range
Jabra publishes up to 150 m of range for the stereo and mono Engage 45 SE, so a call can carry on away from the desk. The convertible version is rated lower, at 100 m.
User-replaceable battery
Up to 13 hours of talk time on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery the user can exchange, which keeps a seat working across back-to-back shifts.
Encrypted by design
DECT Security certification with FIPS 140 military-grade 256-bit encryption, plus PeakStop and Jabra SafeTone 2.0 hearing protection on the audio side.
USB-C charging as standard
Jabra defines the SE designation as commonality with the Engage 55, 65 and 75 SE, and as USB-C charging ports on both the headset and the docking station.

Singular Expert Insight
The trap on this article is the connection, not the audio. It is a DECT headset sold with a base unit and a phone cable, so it plugs into a desk phone and nothing else until you add the Link 400 USB adapter — and plenty of quotes list that adapter as if it were in the box. If the seat is softphone-only, budget for the adapter or look at a USB or Bluetooth headset instead. For everything DECT and wired in this range see Office and VoIP Headsets, and for Bluetooth alternatives see Headphones. Send us the make and model of your desk phone and we will confirm the cable works before anything ships.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You run desk phones and need a dual-ear DECT headset with 150 m of range, 13 hours of talk time, a swappable battery and encrypted audio.
Skip it if
Your users are on softphones only. Without the separately sold Link 400 USB adapter this headset cannot reach a PC at all, and it has no Bluetooth.
Also consider
The mono Engage 45 SE 9653-523-111 if one free ear matters, or the Jabra Evolve2 55 if the seat is softphone-first and needs noise cancellation.
