Jabra Engage 55 MS Mono — DECT Wireless Headset on a USB Adapter

DECT, up to 150 mLink 400 MS with Teams buttonUp to 13 h talk57 g, user-replaceable battery

The Jabra Engage 55 MS Mono, order code 9553-450-111, is a single-ear DECT wireless office headset that connects through a USB-A adapter rather than a base station. DECT gives it the density and security that a busy floor of headsets needs, and up to 150 metres of range means you can leave the desk mid-call. At 57 grams with a battery you can replace yourself, it is built to stay in service rather than be thrown away when the cell tires.

Compatibility — check before buying:
There is no desk-phone connection. The Engage 55 works through its Link 400 USB adapter and nothing else, so if you are replacing an Engage 65 or 75 that was wired into a desk phone, that function does not carry over. This is the MS build with the USB-A adapter. The Teams button and the purple Teams notification light live in the Link 400 MS adapter, and Jabra states plainly that the full Teams experience only exists when the MS adapter is paired with the MS headset — the UC code 9553-410-111 has neither. If your machines are USB-C only, the correct order code is 9553-470-111 rather than putting a dongle adapter on a DECT stick. No charging stand is included with this article; the stand versions are 9553-455-111 and 9553-475-111. Finally, 9553-450-125 is the North American pack of the same headset — one digit apart, wrong region.

Best For

✓ Contact centres and open-plan floors with many headsets in one space
✓ Desk workers who need to walk away mid-call
✓ Microsoft Teams deployments wanting a hardware Teams key
✓ Sites that prefer DECT density and security over Bluetooth
✓ Organisations that replace batteries rather than headsets
✓ Small huddles — up to four headsets can share one adapter

Key Features

DECT with FIPS-grade encryption
Jabra publishes FIPS 140-2 algorithms and 256-bit encryption, stating it exceeds DECT Security Step C. On a floor full of wireless headsets, DECT also avoids the congestion that Bluetooth suffers.

Up to 150 m and up to 13 hours
Range up to 150 m from the adapter, and up to 13 hours of talk time with the busylight off. The lithium-ion battery is user-replaceable on the Mono model, so a tired cell is a part, not a new headset.

Teams button in the Link 400 MS adapter
The adapter carries the Microsoft Teams key and pulses purple for Teams notifications. Because it lives in the adapter rather than the headset, the MS and UC builds are not interchangeable after purchase.

Dual microphone and full hearing protection
An ECM uni-directional element paired with an analog MEMS system across 100 Hz to 7.3 kHz, with Jabra PeakStop, SafeTone 2.0, G616, EU Noise at Work and OSHA protection listed.

Warranty
Warranty 1-Year Warranty (Singular)
Manufacturer Term Jabra publishes a two-year warranty on Engage DECT products in its EMEA business warranty terms, which is the page that applies in Cyprus. Note that Jabra’s non-regional warranty page groups cordless products at one year — the EMEA term of two years is the correct one here. It is a published manufacturer term, not the statutory EU consumer period. Singular’s direct warranty is 1 year; beyond that we assist you with the manufacturer’s warranty process for its full duration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I connect it to my desk phone?
No. The Engage 55 is a USB-adapter product — it works through the Link 400 and has no desk-phone connection at all. If you are moving from an Engage 65 or 75 that was wired into a phone, that capability does not carry across. Tell us what the desks need to reach and we will check whether a base-station model suits you better.
What exactly does the MS version change?
The adapter. The Microsoft Teams button and the purple Teams notification light are built into the Link 400 MS, and Jabra states the full Teams experience requires the MS adapter paired with the MS headset. The UC build, 9553-410-111, is the same headset for Cisco, Avaya, Zoom and other platforms and has no Teams key. The choice is fixed at purchase.
Does a charging stand come with it?
Not with this order code. 9553-450-111 ships with a USB cable for charging, which takes between 2.5 and 5 hours. The stand versions are separate articles — 9553-455-111 for USB-A and 9553-475-111 for USB-C — and charge the headset in about 1.5 hours. If you want stands on every desk, order those instead.
Is 150 metres realistic in our office?
Jabra publishes up to 150 m and does not state whether that is line of sight, so treat it as a best case. In practice DECT range through plasterboard and around a normal office floor is very good and far beyond Bluetooth, but concrete cores and lift shafts cut it. The useful part is that you can leave your desk and keep talking.
Singular Expert Insight
The Engage 55 is the headset to pick when a floor full of people all need wireless at once — DECT handles density in a way Bluetooth does not, and the security specification is genuinely strong rather than marketing. The user-replaceable battery on the Mono model is the detail that matters over three years of ownership. What you must get right at the order stage is the adapter: MS or UC decides whether you have a Teams button, USB-A or USB-C decides whether it plugs into your machines, and stand or no stand decides how people charge it — and all three are separate order codes for the same headset. This one is MS, USB-A, no stand. Also be clear with the team that there is no desk-phone path here. Our office and VoIP headsets range covers the base-station models if you need one.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You are fitting wireless headsets on a Microsoft Teams floor, the machines have USB-A, and you want DECT range and security with a battery your own staff can replace.

Skip it if

You need a desk-phone connection, your machines are USB-C only, or your softphone is not Teams. Each of those is a different order code in the same family, and we can confirm which.

Also consider

The stand versions 9553-455-111 (USB-A) or 9553-475-111 (USB-C) if desks should charge on a cradle, and the UC build 9553-410-111 for non-Teams platforms.
