Jabra Engage 55 SE MS Teams Stereo — DECT Office Headset with USB-A Link 400 Adapter
DECT range up to 150 mUp to 13 h talk timeUser-replaceable batteryBusylight
The Jabra Engage 55 SE is a DECT office headset built for people who need to leave the desk without dropping the call. DECT gives it a working range of up to 150 metres and a dedicated radio link that does not compete with the office Wi-Fi, and the battery is user-replaceable, so a headset in daily use does not become disposable after two years. It connects through the Jabra Link 400a USB-A DECT adapter supplied in the box — to a computer, not to a desk phone. Part number 9659-450-111 is the MS Teams build in the stereo wearing style, with a USB-A adapter and no charging stand.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This headset connects to a computer only. Jabra states the device connects to computers through the USB DECT adapter — there is no desk-phone port, no Bluetooth and no mobile connection. If you need to answer a desk phone, this is the wrong family and we will point you at the Engage 65 or 75 instead. The adapter is USB-A and is fixed at the factory. This is the MS Teams build — the Microsoft Teams behaviour is tied to the adapter variant, so a UC unit cannot be converted later. No charging stand is included: Jabra ships the stand only on the article numbers that end in 5, and lists it as an optional accessory otherwise. Tell us your platform and the ports on your machines and we will confirm the code before you order.
Best For
✓ Contact centres and support desks on long DECT shifts
✓ Staff who walk to a printer or a colleague mid-call
✓ Offices where a crowded Wi-Fi band already causes call drops
✓ Security-conscious environments — DECT beyond Security Level C
✓ Teams that want to replace the battery rather than the headset
✓ Noisy open-plan rooms where two ears beat one
Key Features
150 metres of DECT range
A dedicated DECT radio rather than Bluetooth, with a published working range of up to 150 m. You can leave the desk, walk the floor and stay on the call, which is the whole reason this family exists.
Battery you can replace yourself
The rechargeable battery is user-replaceable on the stereo models, and the headset supports in-call charging, so a unit that runs flat mid-shift does not end the conversation. Charging to full takes up to 90 minutes, with 40 percent in the first half hour.
Security beyond DECT Level C
Jabra publishes security going beyond the highest DECT Security Level C, using FIPS 140-2 algorithms and 256-bit encryption. That matters when calls carry card details, medical data or anything else you would not want on an open channel.
Hearing protection that is actually specified
PeakStop and Jabra SafeTone 2.0 are joined by compliance with EU Noise at Work and G616 limits — the difference between a marketing claim and a published protection standard for staff on headsets all day.

Singular Expert Insight
Six Engage 55 SE codes sit together in our office and VoIP headsets range, and they differ on three things only: the wearing style, the softphone build and the adapter connector. 9659-450-111 is the stereo model, MS Teams, with a USB-A adapter and no charging stand. Its closest neighbours are 9659-410-111, the same stereo headset in the UC build, and 9659-470-111, the same Teams build with a USB-C adapter. The mono version of this exact code is 9653-450-111. Jabra publishes no statement of what the SE designation changes against the earlier Engage 55, and on the published numbers the two are identical — so treat SE as the current catalogue line rather than a feature upgrade. The decision that actually matters here is DECT versus Bluetooth: if your people stay at the desk, a Bluetooth headset from the Evolve2 range costs less and does the same job; if they walk the floor, 150 metres of DECT is the reason to be here. For staff who only need music and the occasional call, our headphones range is the cheaper answer.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Your people take calls away from the desk and need real range rather than Bluetooth’s 10 metres, you want a battery that can be swapped instead of a headset that gets binned, and Microsoft Teams is the standard platform. The published DECT security and the G616 hearing limits make it defensible for regulated work too.
Skip it if
Skip it if you need to answer a desk phone or a mobile — this headset talks to computers only. Skip it if everyone sits at a fixed desk, where a Bluetooth Evolve2 does the same work for less. Skip it too if your office is not on Teams, in which case order the UC code, or if your machines only take a USB-C adapter.
Also consider
9659-470-111 if your machines are USB-C, 9653-450-111 if your staff need one ear free for the room, or 9659-455-111 if you also want the charging stand.
