The Jabra Engage 55 SE Stereo (9659-435-111) is a dual-ear DECT wireless office headset for computer telephony, supplied with the Jabra Link 400c USB-C adapter it is paired to. This is the UC (Unified Communications) build. Covering both ears is the reason people choose Stereo over the Mono version: in a busy open-plan room it blocks more of what is going on around you and keeps concentration on the call. The DECT link runs in the 1880–1900 MHz band, beyond DECT Security Step C with FIPS-approved encryption, reaches up to 150 m in line of sight and gives up to 13 hours of talk time. A built-in busylight switches to red automatically when a call starts.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a computer headset, not a desk-phone headset. Jabra publishes no desk-phone connection for the Engage 55 SE — it ships with the Jabra Link 400c USB DECT adapter and nothing else. If you also need a desk telephone on the same headset, the model with a base station is the Engage 65 SE. The adapter port is fixed by the order code: 9659-435-111 is the USB-C build, so on a machine with only the other port you will need a hub or a port adapter. This is the UC build. It works with Teams, Zoom, Webex and Google Meet as a standard audio device, but it is not the Microsoft Teams certified article — that is a different order code. A charging stand is included with this code. And the noise cancelling is on the microphone: it keeps your background noise out of the call, but the earcups do not cancel room noise for you.

Both ears, fewer distractions
The Stereo version puts a cushion on each ear. It does not cancel noise electronically, but covering both ears does more for concentration in a loud room than a single-ear headset can, which is why call centres specify it.
Secure DECT, not Bluetooth
The link runs in the 1880–1900 MHz DECT band, beyond DECT Security Step C, with FIPS-approved algorithms for key generation, payload encryption and authentication. It does not compete with Wi-Fi and phones for 2.4 GHz air.

Jabra publishes a range of up to 150 m (490 ft) in line of sight. Walls and floors shorten that in practice, but it covers a floor plate comfortably, so you can leave the desk mid-call and keep talking.

Four things separate the Engage 55 SE order codes and every one of them is fixed at the factory: wearing style, USB port, UC against Microsoft Teams, and whether a charging stand is in the box. This is the Stereo, USB-C, UC article with the stand — 9659-435-111. Get one digit wrong and the headset still works, but it is not the one your rollout standardised on, so for anything beyond a handful send us the list and we will check the codes first. On the choice itself: Stereo over Mono is about concentration in a loud room, not about audio quality, and both sit beside each other in Office & VoIP Headsets.
