The JAPANNEXT JN-MD-IPS238U-C6 is a large portable monitor for a second workstation screen, presentations or a setup that needs to be packed away. Its 23.8-inch 4K IPS panel uses a folding rear kickstand instead of a conventional desktop stand, and a felt carry case is included. Connect a compatible video source by HDMI or USB-C and supply external power. With the supplied power setup, USB-C can also deliver up to 65W to a compatible laptop; this is not a battery-powered standalone computer.

Before you order:
The revised manual requires external power even for USB-C video. Your computer and cable must support USB-C video output; a charging-only cable cannot carry the picture. JAPANNEXT explicitly excludes MacBook Pro M4 USB-C connection, while HDMI is possible. The 65W PD rating is a maximum, not continuous guaranteed charging; check your laptop power requirement.

  • For example, place the monitor on a stable table, unfold the kickstand, connect its external power and attach the video cable to your laptop. Select the input in the OSD, then configure an extended desktop in your computer.
  • 4K provides 3840 × 2160 pixels on a 23.8-inch screen. Choose text scaling on your computer to keep documents readable rather than assuming native-size text will suit everyone.
  • At approximately 2.5 kg and 542 mm wide, it is a transportable full-size screen: check bag space and the available table surface.
  • HDR requires a compatible source and HDR content. The 60Hz refresh rate and overdrive-qualified 5 ms GtG response should guide expectations for fast games.

Can one laptop USB-C cable power the display by itself?
No. The revised exact-model manual states that USB-C video requires external power. Connect the monitor power supply as instructed.
Will USB-C replace every laptop charger?
No. Power delivery is up to 65W and not guaranteed continuously. The laptop must accept USB-C PD and its power needs must suit the available delivery; a separate charger may still be needed.
Can it show two computers side by side?
No. The official specification table lists PIP/PBP as unsupported. Choose the active input in the OSD rather than expecting a split-screen multi-source layout.
